AFI Announce Album Details

2006-03-29 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 14 Comments
AFI have set June 6, 2006 as the release date for their forthcoming seventh studio album, Decemberunderground.

In a posting on the band's official message board today, guitarist Jade Puget announced the name and date. The significance of the date, 6/6/06, is probably nil; it's quite possible that more albums will be released on that day than any in recent memory, with bands eager to associate themselves with satan. The album will be preceded by a single, 'Miss Murder,' due to begin airing the week of April 24.

Over the past months, the band has engaged in a treasure hunt of sorts, teasing fans with clues and vague snippets of information which have eventually led to this announcement.

Details of the hunt can be read in full at MTV.com

Woohoo.

Although the album name really both fits with the new site design, I'm slightly disappointed with the name.

Oh well, great news anyway, I've been anxious for this release.

Exciting! Don't really care for the name, but what's a name other then a word?

The release date is uh, odd. I've never really thought of AFI as a band to want to associate with Satan, maybe its just coincidence?

There's alot of releases coming out during that week and the following weeks, so maybe they felt that was the best day for them to do it.

I have followed the clues on occasion, but nothing seemed to say 6/6/06. Although not explicitly associating themselves with Satan, their imagery often times refers to angels, demons, and other mythical creatures so the 6/6/06 date may be intentional.

Whatever, doesn't matter, this looks like it's going to be a really good summer for music so I'm excited.

I don't see this one being worse then any of their previous stuff, unlike a lot of bands AFI (arguably) gets better with age. I have very high hopes for this album.

New AFI album. June 6th, 2006. 06-06-06. Its already got my upmost attention. I never took part in this phone message, charlotte, restaurant menu, website puzzle that has to do with this album, but i got a feeling that they got something amazing up their sleeves with this album with all the suspense built up around it.

Praise the lord! Finally a new release.
The title is so/so in my opinion, but at least they have a new album coming out. Hope its as good as their other albums.
