The Decemberists announce new album 2014-10-26 by Onirium | 5 Comments | Indie folk band The Decemberists have recently announced the release of their seventh studio album, entitled What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World, scheduled to be released on January 20, 2015.
Some new songs were previewed last Friday, with singer and guitarist Colin Meloy busking in Brooklyn, New York.
No further details have been announced concerning the direction the band will take for with the new album but you can listen to new song 'Carolina Low', which is likely to appear on the new album, performed in April by Meloy here:

I'm seriously so excited for this. Been waiting for this record for a long time, and Colin has been teasing new songs for years now. Something tells me this record isn't going to have the "crowd appeal" of King Is Dead though

^good, while that album was pretty good, it was definitely their weakest.

Yeah The King is Dead isn't my favorite but it's still excellent imo. It's kind of unclear where they're going with this one,
because we're not hearing the final arrangements, but it quite surely won't be another Americana-influenced album. Carolina
Low is such an awesome song
