First listen says it's freaking awesome and the samples/scratches are top notch. Always wanted them to do something like this. I hope there's more variation on the album, but on its own, I'm impressed.

I'm relieved that the band resorted back to their Self Titled/Iowa sound. Honestly, I was expecting Stone Sour 2.0

Corey is getting old. That's what's going on with his voice. It doesn't sound terrible. But it's noticeably less controlled.

Definitely digging this track. Sounds like something that could easily have been something on s/t, even if Corey's voice has lost most of his vigor. Gonna be nostalgia'ing so hard once the new album comes up if the rest of the album sounds like this.

Started off amazing with Craig's production, then I kinda got worried at the bare-bones drumming kicked in and oh fucking lord Corey with his HOGAB vocals sticking out like a sore thumb. But after a few minutes, I finally got into the groove of things and thought it was aight.

I really hope this is a black sheep song though. If the whole album is like that, it'll be a 3-3.5, no doubt.

This grooves. Love it, can't wait to see what else is in store on this album and who the new drummer is. Production's a little strange, however.

The drumming was pretty weak which was what I was afraid would happen, but other than that this is top notch. Glad to see them returning to their roots.

For Slipknot, this is pretty stellar. It drags, but the sound works for what they seem to be going for. If the rest of the album is like this, I might feel generous enough to buy it.

Sure they matured on Vol. 3 and All Hope Is Gone but that maturity was starting to morph into Stone Sour 2.0 on All Hope and I was worried that what they did next would steer toward a more commercial sound after the attention they got with Sulfur and Snuff so this track is a welcome return to their old sound. Iowa was their best anyway, one of the most pissed off albums ever. It might not contain all of the experimental sounds of Vol. 3 but its still better.

Song drags a bit imo, but it's still better than anything on AHIG

Couple things I hear.

Glad that we are reminded Sid is still in the band.
The drummer doesn't completely suck.
Corey sounds Ok.

On the other hand

Production sucks. It sounds "murky" with no bass whatsoever.
I feel like in Slipknot Corey reuses the same 60 words.
Riff is weak.
Band sounds like they are trying so hard to do a 180 from the super clean overproduced sound of AHIG.

wow this band was finished i thought after their drummer left and the bassist died but they went back to being interesting, too bad i've grown past the "angsty nu metal/hate life girl" phase i was in many years ago.

I agree. The song is typically them in every way possible, but i feel that it's me who's grown up and maybe won't be into that kind of stuff anymore

they find what they are comfortable with. for example ill use Prog to some people Prog might be part
of a phase then they get into punk which is more to their liking.

it was the same with artists like Korn, Slipknot, Mudvayne and that for me. when i was a young girl in
the early 2000's that was my shit but then when a went to HS then college years later i starting
getting more into older metal artists which was more to my liking along with a few other genre's (like
punk,alternative and industrial/electronic) and i kinda moved away from the "nu metal" of the 90's.

nobody talks about gematria on the last album, I think it's a very good song. That new one is ok. Nothing shameful about it. Just your average slipknot song. Good but nothing special.

Just listened to it for the first couple of times, thought it was one of the least spectacular SK songs I've heard. Sounds like a more restrained track from one of the first two albums, nothing much there to grab on-to. Like the few seconds with the blast beats, the rest, meh. Drumming doesn't compare to Jordison's. This would've been the second most forgettable song on AHIG imo.
