I just assumed it wasn't him because he's already in a deathcore band, and a much better one at that. And I figured they would just come out and say who it was since he's a pretty high profile vocalist, as far as deathcore goes anyway.

I'd hate to see him waste himself on this band.

Nah, you skewing why we hated. He was drunk while driving a motorcycle. He could have killed someone besides himself plus he didn't think of the fact he had a wife and kids while doing this act that resulted in death. That's why we all hated on him and still do.

TheMoreira, I don't care about how you want to take sympathy on this guy, his actions speak louder than words. I would say this about anyone who did the things he did. I also speak from a non-bias standpoint considering I've never been involved in a drinking related incident but I can tell you that he hurt a lot of people in his life because he was a drunk fuck nut. He was a selfish asshole who only thought about himself while driving drunk and leaving behind his family. These two events alone should be chastised by society. I can't disagree with that. I've never been involved in a drinking related incident either, i'm actually straight edge. But that doesn't mean i can't take sympathy on people that end up having their conscience failing when their lives take a turn for the worst. It's a pity people let this happen, it is a shame Mitch came to this, but it did and the fairest way to remind him isn't judging his whole life around the event that brought him to an end and adding insult to injury. He didn't act under his sense and ended up killing himself, it's not like he didn't act under his sense and ended up murdering or something of the sort. And you can say that he could have killed someone and indeed, you are right. But mentioning him with the same hate one mentions someone who commited premeditated murder, i don't think that's right at all. It takes malice to have someone killed at your hands, to take part in a fraud, to steal, to rape. I don't see malice on his actions, i see a lost man with a drinking problem, one that has never faced death and as so does not acknowledge the threat of death in is his actions, nor is in condition to grasp the weight of his actions.

I had a friend, a soccer team mate that died at age 15 by the hands of a drunk driver. He was literally squashed against a wall. Nothing happened to the drunk driver. Went to court and came out clean, with the mere sentiment that he had killed a 15 old boy (serves his head right, at least). That's something i definitely don't agree with, just like i would be all in favor if they would prosecute Mitch, given that in the course of this incident he had killed anyone and survived.

I don't know. I was never a big fan of Suicide Silence but I always felt like Mitch was one of the
most distinct sounding deathcore vocalists. It just doesn't sound right with the new guy. Besides,
he should stick to All Shall Perish (if it is, in fact, him)

Eddie should stick to All Shall Perish. Mitch was pretty distinct (though not always in the best ways, his highs could be kinda grating sometimes) and fit the sound. Eddie needs more complex instrumentation behind him to really shine, I feel.

But just like with this situation, regardless of who's involved i'm always going to be as un-biased as humanly possible in my opinions. The only thing the degree of significance of the person/people involved does for me is dictating how greatly i'm willing to show interest, learn about it and eventually form an opinion and discuss the incidents.

i almost feel like i have less sympathy for people who drink and drive than i do for people that
intentionally murder another person, at least in some cases. i mean obviously it's wrong to kill
people and i'm not trying to condone or justify murder at all but at least they had some sort of
motivation to kill a specific person whether it be out of anger or revenge or whatever. there's at
least the possibility that the person they killed deserved it in some way. maybe a wife killed an
abusive husband or someone got revenge on somebody who raped their child or something. it at least
means that they had some sort of reason for needing to kill a specific person (assuming it isn't
just a mass shooting or something, or just a straight up crazy person) people who drink and drive on
the other hand just have zero respect for life in general and couldn't give a fuck if they're
endangering innocent people. any death that results literally serves no purpose even for the killer
and could have been prevented simply by choosing not to be a terrible fucking human being.

Because before you even put a bottle to your lips, you have a choice no matter what. This whole series of events started with a choice and spiralled down quickly. He knew the choice he was making and did it anyways. That's why this particular incident bugs me and is totally a black and white issue. I feel for people with substance abuse and I understand some people grow up with shitty circumstances that lead them down this path in life. But they still have a choice when it comes to endangering peoples lives and potentially taking everyone else down with them on an emotional level. This is exactly what Mitch did.
