American nu-metal act Linkin Park has announced the title and release date of its upcoming album. The new release, due in North America on May 15, will be titled Minutes to Midnight. Linkin Park has also announced that the first sample of what producer Rick Rubin describes as "a reinvention of the band's sound" as early as April 3, when Minutes to Midnight's first single, titled What I've Done, will be released.

If Rubin believes in em maybe i'll give em a shot...then again, he believed in Slipknot.

Title is decent though.

Man, these guys have such a ridiculously slow turnout rate for albums. I can't believe this one is finally coming.

The Subliminal Verses was a huge improvement over IOWA. What are you talking about?

I really excited for this actually. Can't wait to see what they'll sound like now.

Yeah, Im pretty much in the same place. I just want to see what they can pull off now after talking about how much of an improvement it will be over the generic nu-metal stuff they put out earlier.

Hybrid Theory was the album that got me into music about five years ago, actually. I don't like them anymore, but I'm still extremely interested in hearing what this sounds like.

I could've sworn the title said 'conform' at one point.

Im surprised to hear so many metal heads are very receptive of these guys. Or is this some huge collective, sarcastic joke?

These guys to me sounded like a dying effort to revitalize nu-metal. Too little, too late!

All i want is some sick screams from chester - the guy has talent in the studio. live - not so good. as long as its a bit heavier and in a new direction ill buy it

^ Yeah definitely. Whether you love or hate LP, Chester is a great vocalist. I like many was once a huge Linkin Park fan so I'm looking forward to this one.

True that yo!

I'm quite interested although it would really be tr00 metal if they put a "2" before their album name.

Looking at the title, I have a feeling that this is going to be a lot more "metal" than their previous album (which, really, weren't metal at all).
Could LP turn out to be the new Trivium, except they're trying to be Iron Maiden, not Metallica? I'm intrigued.

I doubt this album will be much different from previous ones. It's just the way bands talk to try and hype an album.

Can't wait to hear it. Rick Rubin has proven over the years with acts like System of a Down and SlipKnoT that he excells in the heavy rock genre. From what I've heard, this will be an eniterly different sound.
