awesome song
| |
I liked it. Good video too.
| |
shit
| |
video was cool, but idk this song just feels kind of feels like spazziness for the sake of spazziness with no real direction
some cool parts but it feels so disjointed and doesnt really flow nicely
top notch musicianship as usualy, but yea... idk bout this album
| |
lol
| |
Song rules, unsettling video fits but it's nothing special.
| |
awesome vid!but yeah i agree demi about the song
| |
startin to lose faith guyz
| |
"Video was cool, but idk this song just feels kind of feels like spazziness for the sake of spazziness with no real direction
some cool parts but it feels so disjointed and doesnt really flow nicely
top notch musicianship as usualy, but yea... idk bout this album " [2]
Nailed it. Just my thoughts
| |
this is the song that everyone seemed to describe prancer as
| |
awesome song, felt like a mix between their option paralysis sound and calculating infinity spazziness
| |
"feels kind of feels like spazziness for the sake of spazziness "
That's kinda how i feel about most of Dep's music tbh but idec most of the time
| |
cool song but the vid isn't good
| |
Video was something D.Lynch would come up with. Song had some cool parts, but overall nothing special.
| |
"video was cool, but idk this song just feels kind of feels like spazziness for the sake of spazziness with no real direction"
damn you couldn't be any more correct.
| |
"this song just feels kind of feels like spazziness for the sake of spazziness with no real direction"
this
just like the last song, there's just no progression
feels exactly like something i'd hear on miss machine
you'd think with the time they take between albums, they'd try some new things
| |
prancer was actually good though
| |
shame cuz op was so good
| |
yeah prancer was awesome but this not so much.
| |
fucking awesome song, weird ass video
| |
The song is alright, video is just wtf.
This is probs the weakest thing they've ever released.
| |
meh
| |
song is really good, its much more spastic than stuff on OP which is awesome imo. and lol at all the Sumerian kids on the vid who just don't get the band
| |
fucking awesome all around, can't wait for everyone to shit on this album too.
| |
Gonna keep playing till it clicks.
There are parts that are just 'OMG', others that just feel awkward.
| |
"video was cool, but idk this song just feels kind of feels like spazziness for the sake of spazziness with no real direction
some cool parts but it feels so disjointed and doesnt really flow nicely
top notch musicianship as usualy, but yea... idk bout this album"
Ummm, that is The Dillinger Escape Plans main sound, other than their pop songs.
This song is better than anything off Option Paralysis, so yeah, stoked.
| |
Certainly sounding better after the 3rd listen.
| |
The guitar tone is the biggest highlight lol
| |
still better than plagiarism im still incredibly stoked for this album and think this song will prolly grow on me somewhat
| |
I actually really enjoyed this, except for the guitar noodling around 1:30. just felt too forced. But Honestly this flows like a dillinger track. Sounds good.
| |
Funny how this band has the ability to change my opinion on a track after multiple listens.
| |
thats you, not the band.
| |
It's a bit of both, probably their intention.
Anyway, song is great haha.
| |
awesome song!!! Love it!
| |
this felt uninspired and recycled.
| |
yep
| |
Not really impressive, god, im not having as high hopes for this now.
| |
"This song is better than anything off Option Paralysis, so yeah, stoked."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
AHHAAHAHAA
| |
bro kris 1 more comment dam
| |
Video is as nonsensical as the song
| |
can't wait for everyone to shit on this album too. [2]
| |
"There are parts that are just 'OMG', others that just feel awkward."
[2] The spazz parts annoy me, but them last 10 seconds where it drops like a bomb is fuckin sick
| |
What the fuck was that shit
| |
i don't know what song all the people who think this sounds 'uninspired' are listening to, song slays
| |
it sounds like parts of old songs that don't go anywhere, spazzy parts we've heard a hundred times before... etc. im kinda drunk i'll listen again tomorrow maybe
| |
yeah song slays you guys must be listening to a different song
| |
Hard to get into this one but I like that that it's a little different.
| |
divided opinions itt
| |
Song's sweet
| |
I dunno having mixed feelings for it. Maybe its due to the pissed-offness from earlier
| |
song doesn't do much for me, I'm guessing this album is where my fandom of TDEP ends. Ah well, it was a good run.
| |
least we have calc and others to jam still
| |
woot baby!
| |
true, maybe this is going to be the one average of okay DEP album out, then they come back with something thats tits. Or the rest of the album is ridiculously good, and this is just one not good song.
| |
I'm starting to feel a little skeptical about this album.
| |
ye of little faith
the dillinger will provide sick jams
| |
I loved the craziness of the song. Not too big on the video but it fits. Album is going to be an enigma and I love that.
| |
wouldnt be surprised if this and prancer are the two weaker songs on the album
| |
Dillinger has always had 1 or 2 iffy songs that didn't really fit the album...I'm not agreeing that this is that song, although its close, but seriously, this album is going to RAPE. BABIES. Don't be too critical just yet
| |
this song just feels like dillinger doing a parody of themselves
| |
Song was epic. I love that jazzy drumming.
| |
demi we get it, you dont like the song. you dont have to post about it every 5 minutes.
to me it sounds just as intense as anything theyve ever done. even matching calculating infinity's intensity during some parts in the middle. idk how it sounds like theyre parodying themselves in the slightest
| |
sorry man im just really disappointed. i will stop now
| |
agree with insurrection this is more intense than anything of OP and IW, really looking forward to the album
| |
Seems like they might be going back to the Calculating Infinity-sound. I honestly don't have a problem with that at all.
| |
the beginning of i wouldnt if you didnt is up there but yea definitely crazier than anything off IW.
| |
I'm wondering if people are saying that they dislike this song just for the sake of trolling, cause I thought that it was amazing, Dillinger Escape Plan at the top of their game.
| |
its a cool song. sounds like Dillenger.
| |
Song was cool, video was unnecessarily gruesome.
| |
i liked it...
| |
Demi pretty much summed up my thoughts about this
| |
I didn't bother watching the video because I don't give a shit but the song was sweet as hell, I don't know what's wrong with the rest of you. The vocals sound killer too this time around. I love that jazzy drum work going on
| |
yeh that 3/2 poly with snare/ride catches you offguard, but it's pulled off ever so smoothly. m/
| |
I believe that this album is going to one of those instances where the pre-released tracks don't sound as good, but the rest of the album is going to be epic. I am basing this off the album preview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UtqIstf2oU which is right here. Especially that track three, the album titled track, One of us is the killer.. Holy hell that sounds epic.
| |
I don't see this album being anything less than stellar
| |
Mmm.
| |
So the lesson I am taking from this is that DEP have finally buckled and are delivering an album to shut the people who only like Calculating Infinity. I have a strong feeling this will backfire and lose of the peeps they have gained.
Personally, I don't know I feel. It is in that uncomfortable zone between bland and pretty decent.
| |
Fence sitter much lillioness lol. The DEP havn't buckled.. Just because nothing off the new album (yet) was as instantaneously enjoyable as Farewell Mona Lisa doesn't make it bland. After hearing prancer a couple of times and this new song today, I FEEL like 'One of us is the killer' will have a juicy depth to it. m/
| |
This video reminds me of something Dir en grey would make, like their "Obscure" or "Different Sense" videos. Love it. Also, this is one of the best DEP songs I've heard in a looong time! Can't wait for the album to drop :-D
| |
Hey, the fence is very comfortable. ;)
| |
I like what I've heard and I trust the Dillinger boys. Worst case scenario this will be "good".
| |
I love the video, though. One of the best I have seen in such a long time.
Finally decided the song is a 3.5/5. It is pretty good, but doesn't hold my attention the whole way
through.
| |
Prancer is one of the most badass song's in DEP's arsenal....by far...and it's just a teaser from the new album lol...I feel like people are just trying for attention by disagreeing....any real fan of DEP would love both of these songs
| |
haha fair enough Lill. Most of the imagery was cool, but overall it was just soo damn filthy.
| |
@Cone that is part of what I love about it. I love gritty shit.
| |
With this new video, we finally take a look inside of Greg Puciato's fucked up conscious.
| |
@ Lill phrasing. BOOM
| |
XD Indeed. Well, I am actually not into scat but I am very kinky.
But yeah, I just love horror imagery overload. In fact, I prefer horror imagery without a rhyme or reason. Plots tend to ruin the images.
| |
I don't even know what I just watched
| |
the video sucks and the song is underwhelming.
| |
In which way, andcas? In that you have some who will swear by their least accessible stuff to their dying day or that most of the userbase hates them?
| |
I think it is just a core thing in general. If core fits somewhere in the genre description, most will hate.
| |
It's just noobs who hear songs/albums once and solidify their opinion (even if the song floated right over their head) if they weren't immediately engaged... then it's bad/boring/uninspired/underwhelming.
| |
I fucks wit it
| |
I liked it. Puciato's performance is wonderfully manic, and the dynamics from the rhythm section are ace. Crazy video, but the grit matches the tone perfectly.
Also, audible bass anyone? (take that, ignominious '-core' label!)
| |
It's not Unretrofied. When I Lost My Bet = -7/10
| |
loved it, great everything
| |
Spasms have direction now?
Song is throwback DEP, kinda disappointed that there wasn't a solid hook in there, or something entirely "new." Just DEP by numbers. Not bad, but if this album is chock-full-o this, I'll be let down.
| |
Seriously, when did the polarization of DEP listeners start on Sputnik?
| |
Song's kinda cool, I've been meaning to give these guys a listen.
| |
needs moar compression
| |
song is fucking awesome, way better than Prancer, but seriously the mixing and mastering is so fucking awful I don't think I'll even be able to listen to the album. It sounds flat and lifeless and distorted and I don't like it
| |
when you started that comment you loved and by the end you convinced yourself it sucks. Glad you could work it out.
| |
@andcas - the only people that "hate" this are the people who already thought TDEP sucked years ago. they're hardly the new BTBAM. most of the negativity is just disappointed fans that have outgrown their sound (like me). I (we) don't hate it, I just think it's nothing amazing.
| |
Nah, the song itself is great but it's just the mastering that sucks. It's like a formula one car with a terrible paint job.
| |
I'm wondering if people are saying that they dislike this song just for the sake of trolling, cause I thought that it was amazing, Dillinger Escape Plan at the top of their game.
| |
The hell was I watching? The song was decent and the video went with the pace of the song perfectly, but the hell was going on? Tongues, blood, dirt, mouths....weird.
Botch still remains in my mind the undisputed king of Mathcore.
| |
I'm not a fan of the mastering either, but hopefully it's just how it sounds on youtube and not on the actual album. but I kinda doubt it =/
| |
Never have I seen such division in a DEP thread.
| |
Nice silent hill video but the song is just awkward and irritating with little to no coherence. OP is a classic for me so I had high hopes, but I'm not getting any feel on this album atm.... "prancer" was extremely underwhelming and now "when I lost my bet" made me lose hope in the record, I'll still listen but don't think I'll be buying
| |
OP a classic? Whats Calc then?
| |
Nah not for me it ain't, Calc is mega tight and all but OP really struck me harder (plus Dimitri's artwork for it is boss)
| |
Wow...
| |
OP is their 2nd best but nothin touches calc imo
| |
This album will not disappoint dem, DEP aren't capable of shit!
Pick yer head up.
| |
We Are the Romans does
| |
just dont like this or prancer much
ill give this one another listen in a bit now that ive had rest, maybe ill like it more
| |
Same here
| |
Maybe, worked for me.
I do see where you're coming from man, the track does sound pretty homogeneous but it still rips. Everything pieces itself together with repeated listens.
| |
Sounds boring to me tbh
| |
they're damned if they do and damned if they don't at this point
They experimented on OP and it worked.
| |
For the most part, Greg tried to outdo himself.
| |
Everytime I've tried listening to Calculating Infinity I've given up pretty quickly
| |
After 43% Burnt?
| |
too grindy for fish
| |
too shit for fish
| |
calc is not shit you take that back
| |
How can you 4.5 OP and slag off Calc?
| |
Why did they rename this song from prancer to when i lost my bet ;)))))))))
| |
if you're implying that prancer and when i lost my bet sound the same then your're an idiot
| |
I was joking, but I expect more from tDEP than these two songs
| |
I preferred Prancer. Song was alright.
| |
Could have been great but turned out average again. I think the band is done writing good albums.
| |
Prancer and this haven't been worth the excitement really, but I'll give them the benefit of doubt.
| |
terrible band
| |
Wow, this really is Sputnik's new band that it loves to hate.
Song fucking rules.
| |
Coulda had a NSFW warning just opened this in my uni library.
| |
Wow, this really is Sputnik's new band that it loves to hate.
No one hates this band, this is just bland for their standards
| |
DumbnConfused
| |
gets better with each listen
| |
"Wow, this really is Sputnik's new band that it loves to hate."
no hated them fr a while thx tho
| |
songs awesome and I like the vid too. I have faith.
| |
For anyone who have a hard time comprehending why CI isn't seen as a classic by some people, may I illustrate why?
-It is hyperaggressive, yes, but that is not always a good thing
-It takes the whole idea accessibility and fucks it to death
-For those who don't dig the full extent of their instrumentation, CI has no reprieve so it could sound like a bunch of assholes doing nothing coherent for a half hour.
| |
CI is very coherent imo but i can completely understand why people wouldn't dig it
| |
gets better with each listen
It really does, and Prancer was the same. A phenomenon I've never really had with Dillinger before.
| |
any fan of metalcore should at least be able to appreciate CI for being the 30 minute mindfuck that it is
| |
They can appreciate it being a mindfuck, but that can be as far as it goes.
| |
I can promise you guys that Sumerian Records will bring down the quality of this band.
| |
Didn't like this song. Probably for the best that I got over this band after Miss Machine.
| |
listening again
still sucks
| |
Song sounds cool. Vid was gross...
| |
It's okay
| |
Am I the only one who got Converge feels from this?
| |
yes
| |
"Am I the only one who got Converge feels from this?"
they're sort of the same genre so
| |
cos it's a new song
| |
That was song awesome. I don't know how anyone is disappointed with that.
| |
fifth listen and I'm already liking it.
A lot.
| |
great song, fuck that video was stupid tho
| |
Have to admit this wasn't really to my liking. Haven't been impressed with any of the pre-release songs so far. Hopefully the rest of the album is better.
| |
The video was gross but pretty cool in a grim way and the song is fucking awesome. I love Prancer as well and the teaser video sounded great so I've got some high hopes for this album. Option Paralysis will be hard to top but I think this will be pretty excellent.
| |
Its funny how a lot of people think this album is going to be just spastic, rehashed calculating infinity ideas. They all said the same thing about option paralysis because of the singles and that album is easily their best/ most diverse work.
| |
Awful video paired with a mediocre track. This label is not good for them. They're not Pig Destroyer, they're not grind with some attitude like, "we have to do something shocking or no one will notice our music" attitude. The production is even subpar. I wasn't fond of Option Paralysis but at least the music there mattered... This is just trying to make it heavier and crazier than Calculating Infinity, which is too far in the past.
| |
They're not grind? Have you even heard Calc?
| |
No they're not grind, have you ever heard Option Paralysis? Calculating Infinity was 14 years and four band members ago.
| |
yeah, they kinda dropped the grind when Greg joined the band. still got the spazziness but not much of the grind, though it does still poke through every now and then, but nothing like on Calc.
| |
why do you guys think them being on sumerian is changing anything? they are still under party smasher...they recorded this album before they signed also. i mean its normal for bands to have 2 or sometimes 3 different contracts with other labels.
| |
I have given this a few more listens , and feel slightly better about it, but only slightly. God willing the album will hold up at least,
| |
yeah the song is decent but miles behind Farewell, Mona Lisa, which was a fantastic single to ride in off of imo
| |
God i was jamming that in my car today actually. I fucking love farewell, yeah this just isnt as powerful as Farewell, i agree to that.
| |
I hope the album title isn't in reference to the songs. It also puts them in an awkward situation should anyone perish at a DEP show.
| |
Buying this album the day it drops and blasting it. No fucks given
| |
Song just keeps getting better.
| |
Lyrics:
WA WUH FA HUH FUH DA
WA WUH FA WA WUH FA HUH FUH DA HUH FUH DA
x7
| |
This is legitimately one of the most disturbing music videos I've seen. Song sounds great.
| |
