Cold to "Bow Out Gracefully" 2006-02-27 by Jom | 14 Comments | After nearly ten years as the band Cold (not to mention the many years they were known as Grundig), frontman Scooter Ward has announced that Cold has broken up.
Posting from Cold's official boards, Ward writes:

[T]oday we will no longer survive as Cold. Sam [McCandless, drummer] and I will write new songs, make a new record and see you guys in due time... we love Jeremy [Marshall, longtime bassist]. He's my brother and I welcome him at anytime. We thank the Cold Army [the street team] for all their support throughout the years: the memories, the love, and the friends we have made are worth everything. We will always cherish that, and we will always love you. And we would like to thank certain people at Atlantic [Records], who actually tried to help us...
... It's better to bow out gracefully, I think, [and] have a [little] class and dignity.
And to everyone who supported Cold, say hello to the future.

Scooter has had it hard. It's no surprise about this, but it'll sure be interesting to see what the new material will be like over time.

they were always a good band. never liked their first cd, but they were awesome after. the best cd of theres i think is 13 ways to bleed on stage.

13 Ways To Bleed On Stage is a great cd, too bad they had to start singing about stupid girls. R.I.P. Cold.

i saw this coming...the new album just had a feeling like it was over... 13 ways to bleed on stage doesn't get the respect it deserves...and to a point neither did cold...stupid gilr wasn't that bad of a song and i loved year of the spider...i saw this coming a little but that doesn't make this suck any less...

I like End Of The World as a song. But I haven't herd that much from this band...

Cold was the band that got me into atmospheric music. And for that I owe them my life.
But they seriously went downhill; I saw them slolwy falling apart ever since Year of the Spider.

this band has helped me in so many ways. no other band has done that. they didnt get the credit they deserved

I've only heard a few tracks of theirs from year of the spider, and they're not at all bad. This is a shame though.
