Mudvayne Sideproject Ongoing

2007-01-23 by Jom | 13 Comments
Vocalist Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett have been taking part in an on-going side-project that includes drummer Vinnie Paul (Pantera) and the guitarist and bassist for Nothingface, Tom Maxwell and Jerry Montano, respectively.

The band's name is called HELLYEAH and will be releasing its debut April 10th, 2007, via Epic Records. You can hear rough cuts of two tracks at the band's official mySpace:

The two Mudvayne members will tour in support of the new project in between recording the upcoming Mudvayne album, which is slated for a third or fourth quarter release. The band is once again working with Dave Fortman, who worked with them on Lost and Found.

According to Gray, he is excited for both Mudvayne's and HELLYEAH's futures:

It's cool to have both Mudvayne and HELLYEAH as creative outlets now, even though the approach, subject matter, and attitudes between the two projects are completely different. I'm looking forward to balancing both bands in my life — my new extremely busy life.

What a terrible band name.

The music sounded kind of generic and boring too.

You're right, they're the worst half :/

Ryan Martine should leave Mudvayne and join a band where he's actually allowed to play his bass.

Yea, the only good thing Mudvayne have is the bass player and they only let him shine through on the earlier stuff.

Not a big Mudvayne fan, but I like Tribett. Their last CD had some awesome atmosphere, mostly due to his guitar.

@ Jom, but I'm sure you'll agree his LD 50 basslines were far better, and now they're not really anything special.

Wow, talk about being original. This is so generic, and terrible, and well i didn't expect much at all. From the people who started this band, and well the terrible music that comes from it.

All i can say is "Hellyeah" this is terrible music.

Worst half...idk...chad grey doesnt suck at vocals (in mudvayne at least), but ive heard the two tracks on their myspace (self titled track and something else) and yeah its really not "creative" at all. Thumbs down. Too bad for Vinnie Paul.
