Deftones Complete New Album

2006-02-25 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 12 Comments
Speaking to Billboard.com, Deftones drummer Abe Cunningham has confirmed that recording has finished on the group's much-delayed fifth album. The two-year long project was hampered by internal struggles which threatened to break the band apart.

"I don't want to sit here and complain because these things happen to everyone," Cunningham told Billboard.com, "but if there was a VH1 'Behind the Music' special on us, it would be the perfect episode with divorces and all kinds of crap. It was just lack of communication. Thankfully, we've been reattaching our limbs."

Never heard a lot of them, but I love the song, "Change".

That's too bad for them, they made some good songs.

I dare to guess it was Billboard.com

And I tend to agree with Jom. If it's as bad as it can be read from between the lines, I guess this could be the last Deftones record

"internal struggles which threatened to break the band apart."

That's false. The band was never on the verge of breaking up.

This won't be the last Deftones record. What happened was that Chino went on tour with Team Sleep before he was finished recording vocals for the new Deftones record. Naturally, the rest of the band, having finished all their parts, was annoyed by this.

The band had bigger fights during the White Pony session. Everyone is over-dramatizing the situation.

In a recent interview written before they played Hultsfred Festival last week they said it feels good the story begins to come to an end, so I'm convinced this is the last thing.
