Corgan: Pumpkins Album in 2007

2007-01-03 by Jom | 27 Comments
In a statement on the band's MySpace page, frontman Billy Corgan promised fans the re-united Smashing Pumpkins will hit the road and have a new album to support this year. At press time, no details were given about either the tour or album's specifics.

Writes Corgan:

This year for us will see a new album of songs and a world tour of tears, and we truly look forward to playing again for fans young, old, and missed. So yes, tunes are being dusted off, while others are being asked to kindly submit to an upstart millennia and all it's asking. In our daily prayers, we send out the signal that all who should hear us come forward and be seen, and by extension, heard. When we opened the lid on this music box, we were pleasantly surprised at the music that played: familiar yet unknown, welcoming but not sentimental, and that is all we can ask.

gotta love how corgan tries to sound all poetic but just sounds like a dick. i've seen teenage emo poetry that's less cringeworthy than his statement up there.

and for the most part, his band suck too.

I disagree, I think his statement kind of rings true. Unnecessary, regardless.

Still, this is going to be a great album.

no matter how much of an asswipe billy corgan can be, when it comes down to it, his music always makes me believe he is allowed to be that way.

In my opinion, Chamberlain and Corgan are the only ones that matter. Iha has never struck me as anything special. By all means, correct me if I'm wrong. This Message Edited On 01.03.07

I always liked Iha. My friend met him. Also he is one of the leaders of the Smashing Pumpkins fanclub in PA. I might get the album early! This Message Edited On 01.03.07

I'm really excited for the album. Apparently they're going back to their "roots" ie. no more goth/electronic stuff...

Apparently it's "more dynamic" than MCIS? Whatever that means.

And yeah, it wont be the same old SP as it was with Darcy and Iha, but musically Corgan and Chamberlian were the core of the band. Not to say Iha didn't have a few great tunes. Just a few though.

I'm really excited to see how it turns out.

Well, I was randomly dicking about and ended up looking at the first ever ratings for Springsteens - Nebraska and saw Evil Clown Liquor. One click led to another and it's what I've always thought. People were nobbers back in the day and sput was fucking useless.
