this album kicks my ass. Just as expected. will probably be a 4 from me.
|
| |
Vocally a lot better then their debut (only on the fourth song right now) but musically it seems less interesting. :/
|
| |
took 20 seconds to get to those vox, ugh i'm in for a long listen
|
| |
I share Evreaia's sentiments. Listened earlier today and it's not an entirely rewarding listen.
|
| |
listening now.... kind of disappointed
|
| |
This album slays. "Luck As A Constant" is fantastic; the solo at the end is incredible. The whole album is a feast for the ears.
|
| |
It's pretty good, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it's going to beat out their debut
|
| |
rules!
|
| |
I hate his cleans, but it's not too bad so far.
|
| |
Yeah this is pretty awesome. Half way in and I think it'll beat out their debut
|
| |
I thought this was pretty poor. It's just all around boring. It isn't bad but it couldn't hold my attention. I gave it a 3 just cause of their talent but it's pretty average
|
| |
The vocals in Ji are really making the song drag for me.
Edit*
The vocals are outright annoying me, I feel like skipping songs already.
|
| |
sounds sick
|
| |
I happen to like his cleans, along with his growls. Epic cleans
|
| |
For the most part he just belts out notes, regardless of melody or harmony or what the music is doing. He doesn't have very good hooks or really anything catchy, for someone to be singing so predominantly clean, it's just a repeat of the same limited high notes over and over.
He is no Rody Walker for sure.. As much as he thinks he has that range.
|
| |
nah
|
| |
Luck As a Constant is slick
|
| |
He has a few decent ones for sure, but for the most part he just ruins it for me.
|
| |
shit
|
| |
obviously you haven't heard the s/t eleventhsun
|
| |
I have 1 song left on this record.
|
| |
Album rules.
|
| |
yeah im talking about the s/t man not this one
|
| |
Sorry man, I misread that as "haven't heard this shit"
I have heard the self titled, I throw it on from time to time. The vocals are much worse on that then this one :p
|
| |
yes they are lol. but idk Spencer is 4x as good as this so I just don't get how they are detracting now.
|
| |
I've always had it out for this guy, since the first time I heard him sing haha.
I'm gonna probably see them live this summer, maybe he'll change my mind with less production!
|
| |
soooooo gooood another great year for music. new Rush, ETID, EAPZ, and now this
|
| |
Can't hold my attention, album title is lame
|
| |
I was expecting more progression, especially after hearing Muramasa which is a great opener.
The rest is kind of hit or miss.
|
| |
Erised is great.
|
| |
fuck u
|
| |
Is it just me or did the vocals get worse? This is almost as bad as Heliocentric was for me.
|
| |
periphery were always hell overrated
wanna fight kill?
|
| |
"Is it just me or did the vocals get worse?"
You and a few other crazy people. His improvement in all areas is really obvious, if you like his new singing style less it's understandable, but his growth as a vocalist is pretty much undeniable.
Anyway I love the album. Sputnik clearly despises Periphery but whatever.
|
| |
i think i would like this more if Rody from PTH just did the vocals instead.
i mean it sounds like Spencer is trying to sound like him in Scarlet.
its okay.
|
| |
I've always loved Spencer's vocals, both growls and cleans. I've listened to this 4-5 times now all the way through, and unfortunately not much is standing out other than the two tracks they had already released. Hopefully I just need to listen to it more to get it into my head. At the moment it seems like there aren't enough solid tracks. Too many boring instrumental parts that don't need to be there. I really hope I'm wrong. Anyone hear about their 2nd album coming out this year, Juggernaut?
|
| |
Not any real details on it yet, just that it's a concept album and that Misha claims it's going to be quite dark.
|
| |
Jesus guys, i thought people would eat this up. I've got 5 tracks left but so far i've only heard one kinda meh track: Ji. I thought spencer kicked some ass on this album, thought people would be less bashful this time around.
but fuck it, right? because sputnik.
EDIT: Froggin Bullfish and Mile Zero are also boring. Still had moments though. A 4 from me. like i predicted.
|
| |
I like it
|
| |
It's looking like a 3 for me.
|
| |
I was really stoked for this, but on first listen it was pretty mediocre. Probably a 3 or 3.5 if it grows
|
| |
After my first listen, I am a little disappointed. The vocals are ok, his screams are much better, his voice is better too. I'm not sure he uses it well all the time still, some of his runs do not seem to fit. But, honestly, it's the music for me that is the problem. Don't get me wrong, the musicianship is amazing, but the songs don't sound like Periphery to me for some reason. They have different song structures that are more basic, and for lack of a better word, poppy. They're using 4 chord song structure progressions. It's weird, I mean, if I didn't know it was Periphery, I would probably like it more. I'll give it some more listens, but after one time through, it wasn't very memorable for me. I thought the first couple of tracks were great, then it started to drag, got picked up with the one they already released, and the one with Petrucci in it, and then the instrumental after killed it for me. Hopefully it grows on me....
I think it's because there didn't seem to be any songs that grooved like on the S/T...songs like the Walk, Ow my Feelings, Letter Experiment, Racecar, even Icarus all have a total groove to them that I really liked. Just a totally different feeling album. Not bad, just different.

| |
This is an improvement. Pretty enjoyable
|
| |
Good god ryan just write a review lol
