Another reason why 2012 will be the best year ever
|
| |
this is tastier news than hummus is tasty
|
| |
stupid album title
will rule tho
|
| |
You are there > Hymn to the immortal wind
should be sexy though
|
| |
I hope Albini produces again, he brought a cool sound out of them on Hymn. Should be epic in scope as always.
|
| |
Loved Hymn to the Immortal Wind, should love this as well. Also, gonna' be released just before my birthday! Awesome!
|
| |
I think the album title is fine. I'll probably be interviewing these guys soon.
|
| |
What a nice surprise. Right before my birthday, thanks Mono! Interested to see how their sound changes to suit this album. Doesn't sound as conceptual as the last one.
|
| |
Why does everyone look like painfully distraught in the video lol
|
| |
yay
|
| |
in before "Mono Sucks"
this will rule. I don't like the title though.
|
| |
The title is lol-worthy, but will definitely be checking this out once it comes out.
|
| |
Album title is gold compared to Periphery.
|
| |
Oh gosh
|
| |
What is wrong with the album title?
|
| |
Album title's fine. Really interested to hear this, I love Hymn To The Immortal Wind
|
| |
Hymn was easily my least favorite of theirs, from what I've heard. It feels really forced compared to their other releases. Pure As Snow was beautiful, but I didn't really care for the rest.
I hope this one isn't a continuation in that path.
|
| |
Forced? How so?
|
| |
To me, it felt overly dramatic when it didn't have to be. The songwriting seemed more predictable than ever, and many of the songs dragged for what felt like an eternity before heading in a good direction.
That ending of Ashes in the Snow is so irritating D: we have a cool chord change, so let's play it 45 times in a row shall we?
|
| |
Idk, I wouldn't call that forced as much as you just disliking it because of its theatricality and overlong songs.
I thought it was a great album personally, and "Ashes in the Snow" released all of the tension it had been building up pretty well I thought.
|
| |
Hymn felt like the band were trying way too hard to create passionate music - varied instrumentation and longer tracks do not a better album make. Therefore, I consider it forced.
Is this sufficient, you Mr. Semantics you? :P
|
| |
I agree with Omahastyle for once
|
| |
You've finally seen the light, eh?
|
| |
When I think 'foced' I think Omar Rodriguez. Hymn to the Immortal Wind really didn't come across to me as being overwrought, I actually thought a lot of what they were doing was kind of simple.
|
| |
Well, tbh when I hear "foced" I don't think of anything.
Jk, not going to do that to you. ;] But I do understand what you mean. I suppose that what makes it feels overwrought to me is the extensive instrumentation: strings that aren't necessarily NEEDED to convey the album's message.
On their album One Step More, the song "Com." was sixteen minutes long, and had great potential to be boring as hell. They didn't utilize many instruments, and the song had similar elements throughout. However, it kept being adjusted in natural ways that maintained the listener's interest, using only the essential ingredients and nothing more.
So what I'm saying in a nutshell is that yeah, Hymn was simple from a songwriting perspective. How the band created those simple songs, though, was too over-the-top to me.
|
| |
Double LP? Sweet.
|
| |
I've only listened to Hymn To The Immortal Wind but I quite enjoyed it. Looking forward to this.
|
| |
ooh i loved Hymn, so I'll be sure to check this out.
|
| |
Will listen
|
| |
Do want. It feels like forever since Hymns was released. And I didn't even know who this band was when Hymns released.
|
| |
Baseline, can you make a fart compilation?
|
| |
Manowar AND Mono in the same year...yes please.
|
| |
dear parents: i hate you :[
|
| |
The album will just be a compilation of complaints directed at their parents
1. Post-Rock Artists Shouldn't Have Curfews
2. No, Mom, I Didn't Name the Band After an Illness
3. We Sound Nothing Like Enya, I Promise
4. Climaxes Don't Always Equal Ejaculation (Please Try to Understand)

| |
Hymn sucked
This will be better
