It's really interesting to me that We Are Young is so goddamn popular, but at the same time it doesn't really surprise me. It's got that faux-deep shallow message and it's simple enough to be very infectious.

It is a little frustrating though; Aim & Ignite was a legitimately fantastic pop record and it barely received a fraction of the attention that they have now. Good for them though, I suppose.

and yeah I agree, I honestly didn't even know We Are Young was fun. when I everybody started playing it, I just didn't link up "oh fun. released a new record neat I need to look that up sometime" and "oh there's this new single that kinda sounds like fun. but it's just really annoying". idk how it got so popular but that chorus is just ughhhh so corny.

I don't think anyone thinks it's deep, it's just supposed to be anthemic, kind of like the "yolo" for Apple store indie kids I guess. I think the song itself is fine but that CHORUS DEAR GOD THAT CHORUS and overall the song is just underwhelming. But good for them for finding such a hit song!

I mean it's good that it made them more popular since they deserve it, they're a good band. I just hope their future singles find equal success and aren't so corny.
