Linkin Park helps the kids

2006-12-14 by Thor | 12 Comments
Little Kids Rock (LKR), a program providing free instruments and instruction for public school students, has announced that Linkin Park guitarist and Little Kids Rock Honorary Board member, Brad Delson, will be visiting Los Angeles' Nightingale Middle School. During his visit Delson will be delivering 36 electric guitars to Little Kids Rock music students. In turn, the sixth through eighth grade students will treat the Linkin Park band member to a performance of a Linkin Park song titled "My December". The event will take place at Nightingale Middle School at 3311 N. Figueroa Street in Los Angeles and will begin at 1:00pm. Approximately 40 Little Kids Rock students will be in attendance. Media are invited to attend the event.

Linkin Park has a long and notable history in philanthropic endeavors. Mr. Delson's current involvement in Little Kids Rock as a member of its Honorary Board of Directors is just another example of how these generous musicians have chosen to use their celebrity in a way that helps make a difference in the world.

"It's always rewarding to witness students experiencing everything our program has to offer. Not only do we provide an accelerated program with a broad range of musical offerings, but we also have the ability to give our kids direct contact with incredibly talented artists like Brad Delson," said Dave Wish, Executive Director for Little Kids Rock.
Brad Delson is among a growing list of celebrities who support Little Kids Rock. Other celebrity supporters include Paul Simon, B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Vai, Les Paul, Tom Waits, Joe Satriani, Rick Springfield, Dave Mason, James Burton, Jason Newsted, Carlos Santana, the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir, The String Cheese Incident, Phish, Jesse McCartney and more.

Well, that's pretty cool of them even though it's probably just their way of getting good press.

A better way for them to help children would be to stop making music.

Thank God he wasn't trying to give guitar lessons.

Damn, you guys are mean to Linkin Park. Most of it's probably envy anyway.

it's probably just their way of getting good press.

Ha, envious of Linkin Park? That's a good one. You couldn't pay me to disgrace myself by being in their band. No offense to them or anyone who likes them though

I like them, and I'd be in their band. I'm just saying the guitarist, bassist, and drummer aren't as good as they can be.

If I was to ever be in their band, I woud be kicked out within a day for trying to change everything. I would be saying, "Well, let's put an exciting riff here and an original riff here. Let's try a nice creative drum fill here. Now, let's practice your melo-death growl, lol."

Yeah everyone jumps on the bandwagon when it comes to disliking Linkin Park.

Nonetheless, good band, and that's cool what they're doing for the kids.

^ Yea, because everyone just hates Linkin Park. They're definitely not one of the most popular bands around (sarcasm). They may not be well-liked here. You need to face the fact that your opinion is not fact. Just because you think Linkin Park is a good band, does not mean that everyone else should. One things is for sure. They recycle the same song almost as much as Nickelback.

@Eakflanderyof: I don't see the need for you to have even typed "...does not mean that everyone else should", Convalescence wasn't pushing his musical tastes on anyone at all.

EDIT: And one of the reasons bands like Linkin Park and Nickelback recycle riffs is because it's what is selling their records, they don't want to take any chances because they're doing just fine with the pre-teen population (and me) buying their CDs.This Message Edited On 12.16.06

He stated that people are joining the bandwagon of disliking Linkin Park. That implies that the reason people don't like Linkin Park is to be a part of a bandwagon. I found that statement completely ridiculous. I hate Linkin Park because of their music, not because I want to be a part of some stupid bandwagon. Also, if I wanted to be a part of a bandwagon, my favorite bands would not be bands that people haven't even heard of in this country like Kalmah, Ensiferum, and Woods of Ypres.

He may not have pushed his musical tastes on me, but he implied that people just don't like them because other people don't. This doesn't make sense because they are currently one of the most popular bands in the country right now.

I don't personally see the need for you to have typed.
