Harvest Festival Lineup 2011-07-22 by DaveyBoy EMERITUS | 18 Comments | Rumored for many months, the Harvest Festival is coming to Australia in November, with a stellar line-up of local and international acts.
Officially titled 'Harvest - A Civilized Gathering', the 3 date festival will be headlined by Portishead and The Flaming Lips, the former of which have not toured down under for thirteen years.
Interestingly, the festival comes from the same promotional team who put together the annual metal/hard-rock/punk festival 'Soundwave'. Head promoter AJ Maddah admitted that he has been trying to make the festival come to fruition "for close to seven years".
He went on to state "I needed to feel confident we had the right team assembled to make it happen, and now we have. For example, Harvest is partly inspired by Ireland's world-acclaimed and award-winning Electric Picnic festival - and we now have one of its founders Declan Forde on board programming our music."
The dates for the festival are:
Saturday 12th November – Werribee Park, Melbourne
Sunday 13th November – Parramatta Park, Sydney
Saturday 19th November – Botanical Gardens, Brisbane
The first line-up announcement is as follows:
Portishead
The Flaming Lips
Bright Eyes
The National
Mercury Rev
Hypnotic Brass
Family Stone
Holy Fuck
Death In Vegas
The Walkmen
Dappled Cities
This Town Needs Guns
Foxy Shazam
PVT
The Holidays
Phosphorescent
Kormac’s Big Band

Such an impressive line-up for a first year, can't wait to see how it grows over the years. I'm glad there's a major festival in Australia that sits somewhere in between Big Day Out and Splendour In The Grass now.
| | | Sick lineup, kind of like an end of spring Laneway. I'll definitely be going.
| | | Portishead, The Flaming Lips, Bright Eyes, The National, Holy Fuck, This Town Needs Guns, Foxy Shazam and PVT is enough to get me excited.
Adelaide, Perth and Auckland will get a few sideshows each as well.
| | | Wish I could go SO bad
| | | horseypie, I was actually thinking that Laneway is likely to be hurt by this to some extent.
| | | will you go Davey?
such a great line-up so far; would love to see This Town Needs Guns and Foxy Shazam
| | | Probably not. It's too classic alt/indie for me. Plus, I'm scared of the killer African animals that reside at the location! ;-)
| | | I think I'll pass. A lot of amazing bands, but none that I'm into enough to want to see live. Except maybe Foxy Shazam.
| | | dgaf about any of these bands
| | | hopefully the national do a sideshow here, i wouldnt pay to see any of the others
| | | mercury rev, the flaming lips & the national m/
damn i gotta rethink my life and move to australia
| | | you guys do know the flaming lips pretty much but on the undisputed best show in music right?
| | | thinking of travelling interstate just to see portishead because portishead are fucking incredible
hope the national do a sideshow but jesus there'll be so many triple-j hipsters (you know, the kind that love angus and julia stone and the wombats, not proper hipsters)
| | | decent first announcement. The Flaming Lips and The National are great festival bands. and PVT is pretty fun live. also The Walkmen and Foxy Shazam, nice.
| | | Portishead
| | | Portishead and Bright Eyes!? Might give the Sydney date a try if I can rustle up some cash. Make up for missing Soundwave Revolution I guess. I'd choose Revo if I could, but ah well.
| | | I might do a road trip around Aus about that time, so, I may look in to this. Does sound very cool. Would love to see the Flaming Lips.
| | | imo last years FL Harvest Festival was much better then this... but we will see.
