Anathema to release new album

2011-07-07 by DoubtGin | 36 Comments
Progressive rock band Anathema will release their new album Falling Deeper on 5th September this year.

"Falling Deeper continues where Hindsight left off. The album features brand new arrangements of songs and haunting melodies from our earliest days. It’s a mesmerising blend of the orchestral - majestic and at times ethereal - with beautiful vocal arrangements and our unique 'feedback' lead guitars, all centred around a grand piano and a huge rhythm section. All the layers work together to convey the haunting internal landscapes Anathema have become renowned for. "

The record has been produced by Daniel Cavanagh and was recorded and mixed by Andrea Wright at Parr St Studios, Liverpool. The orchestral arrangements are provided by Dave Stewart who also worked with the band on their latest album We're Here Because We're Here.

...didn't their last album take, like, 7 years to make? and here they are releasing a new album after only 1 year from their last?

This new album is just a reworking of their older material, much like Hindsight. It is not a new set of songs like WHBWH.

"look guys, My Dying Bride did this awsome thing of rerecording their oldies, with orchestra and stuff, LET'S TO THE SAME" :D

Anyway, this will probably be much better than Evinta. Really looking forward to hear this.

I hope it is not as awful as that My Dying Bride album. It's kinda cool they are going to rearrange their older songs because it'll be interesting to see how they turn out.

Anneke van Giersbergen will be featured on "Everwake", oh my god.

Yeah get Judgement and We're Here Because We're Here. Both are stunning.

I'd like to say one thing about this album. Anathema does acoustic performances VERY well, especially when I saw them live opening for Blackfield. If this album is going to be anything like Hindsight, it will be absolutely incredible.

Incorporating aspects from last year's brilliant release into the re-working of old material should be awesome.

I usually just sigh with releases of old songs but Hindsight was an amazing CD. If it's anything like that, this will be great. Can't wait!

seems very pop-ish, kind of clichéd, lack of the old atmospheric feel also bugs me, doesn't do the old songs any justice for me :[

The samples with Anneke are pretty sweet, the rest sounds quite interesting too.
