@Sonicspeed500
Yeah, those ratings have to come down. Its been a while since I last looked at them, but if you were to take any of those albums without having listened to anything else from DT then I can still justify the ratings. I guess I'm just tired of hearing a 'new' album and recognising most of it on first listen. Disagree?

yeah this'll be either great or garbage. either way the diehard fans won't like it because of portnoys absence and they'll get him back after this album. i'm calling it.

Wow. Horrible song titles, horrible album titles....let's hope the music doesn't follow suite. I thought BC&SL was pretty good (regardless your opinion on it, it was a vast improvement from Systematic Chaos), but I don't have a good feeling about this at all.

BC&SL was their best since 6 Degrees, so I'm pretty stoked for this. And without the slobbering metalhead on drums, it's almost inconcievable that this new album will be less than great.

pretty egotistic band. first they make a documentary (!) about a change in their lineup. opeth didnt do that when they announced that per was leaving... and then the name of the album is obviously a reference to that. plus they made the most unimaginative choice for the replacement drummer. so in a nutshell this will suck ass with a straw.

It has more songs so hopefully a more structured approach, Myung is writing lyrics again and no growls from Portnoy. Plus mixing from Andy Wallace. That sounds pretty positive to me!

Apparently, though, many people will judge this before any release of a music sample whatsoever. Sad IMO.

BC&SL was a step back to better form but still not great.

Hopefully Myung is writing songs again now Portnoy is gone. To be honest, I think him not writing was an issue in their decline into the shredding/metal fest. More songs like Learning to Live and Trial of Tears will make me pick this album up.
