Hmm... any time a band or artist declares any of their work "the ______ ever," or anything in that vein, I get pretty unsure about that band or artist. A statement like "darkest song ever" - in a world swimming with Aphex Twins, Thom Yorkes, Scandanavian Metal bands, depressed Indie songwriters, an ever enlargening enclave of Post-Rock outfits and so forth - is quite a bold one. I'm not much for following MCR, but we shall see.

sounds spooky, but ten years from now when cancer is cured and mcr isn't around i'm sure everyone will have forgotten.

Gerard Way sounds like an idiot. It's pretty easy to write something in a brutal and dark way if you disregard any poetic aspect.
|
| |
Yeaz! There so dark and hardcorez!
|
| |
I've always found the darkest songs aren't the ones that are brutal, but the ones that are very subtle.
|
| |
This song is hardly the darkest ever, its much too poppy for that. I still can't wait for the record though.
|
| |
I'd rather hear a song about a less generic disease. Cancer is too mainstream for my indie rock tastes.
|
| |
Cancer is too mainstream?
Meh MCR are okay. Used to love them before I found out they kinda suck.

He looks like Dani Filth at a cocktail party in that picture.
Anyway, a rich man doesn't need to tell you he's rich. If Way is claiming this song is the darkest song ever, it's going to be a subpar pop single.

"For me it was almost like an attempt to write the darkest song ever, and I think we achieved that."
Why must he Attempt to write the Darkest Song Ever? So before they made the album they just said. we must write the darkest song ever.......? I thought most bands just write songs as they come and then pick the best...

| |
Ugh. This guy sounds like a real prat.

Goon, I doubt it will be. MCR are just a bunch of losers preaching to about...nothing really. *apologises to all MCR fans* Its just I really dislike them thats all. This Message Edited On 10.17.06

Quite a shaky subject to write about, The Subhumans are one of my favourite bands, but I dont like their song ''Cancer''
|
| |
Its hard for these guys to sound dark with their singer's voice sounding the way it does.
|
| |
Saying Cancer is "the darkest song ever" is not good for the band, it sounds like they are trying to hard to give the song publicity. I heard the song, it is real good, deep and very straightforward.Their new material is superior to the others they have. Good to see them finally grow out of the horror movies obssesion and actually writting meaningful songs.

i would believe that Canibal Corpse or Venom would write the darkest song ever.
I'd say the honour would go to Black Death.
I'm hilarious.

I've heard this song "Cancer" live.
I didn't understand the words in all honesty, and it was wasn't as "rock-ish" like their other songs, but it sounded pretty good.
Let's hope they live up to all the hype.
