Self titled was awesome, new album sucked, but I blame that totally on the band. Their songwriting was crap, Cove did the best he could with it I thought though.

Wow, I'm pretty surprised. I thought that Cove was a great vocalist even if the band wasn't as good when he was in it. His range was great. Self titled was awesome, but the last album was really boring as hell.

So far both times a vocalist has left them they've had big shoes to fill imo.

Hmmm...and I was in the process of losing interest in this band altogether after their last album. Now I'm going to REALLY be looking forward to the improvement they may go through...although I'm NOT really looking forward to all the AG fanboys making a big deal out of it, and then getting disappointed again...although, if somehow, they did end up with Anthony again...holy sh!t...

Cove came in and they immediately signed to the major Capitol Recorsds, they preceded to be pushed around and forced to write melodic pop rock songs that would be radio hits. This is not Coves fault. Now they are off a label and Cove gets dropped. It isnt fair that he is going to be blamed for them going soft, it was the labels that pushed them into it.

Yeah they were pretty bad, as much as I don't like to admit it. Some bands' music just isn't meant to be played on acoustics.

^Yeah. The unfortunate thing is, regardless of how much I disliked Cove (in Saosin), he was put in a terrible position. I mean he tried out for the band and all, but he was always gonna be in Anthony's shadow and expected so sing in that range. I kind of wonder how he would have sounded if he never was expected to emulate a certain sound and vocal range.

There is some definite talent shown on their s/t, but it's all touched up and he apparently isn't entirely comfortable in that range. I can't really see him having much of a music career after this, but I'd like to know what he would be able to do in a different band. Best of luck to him in the future.

Acoustic wasn't that bad until the end. And then it was terrible. But yeah if I went to see this band and they played They Perched like that I would have been so pissed.

I think they're going to go right back to their hardcore roots. My fear is that they're going to regress soooooooo far that it's going to be right back to square one, ..Which for some wouldn't be a bad thing. But they're such talented musicians, it would almost be a shame if they went back to square one. I would LOVE to see a CD that is a huge mix of TTN, and their S/T, take away all the slow filler. Get a vocalist who is comfortable at a higher range, and get a harsh vocalist in there for some passages. It looks to me like one or both of the guitarists can add some nice screams in, so why not utilize it?
