Wow...that was terrible. So far this is a huge step back from their last two albums. Not even a cool solo on this one.

Their initial singles are always average (except for their debut album).

Personally I have a soft spot for these guys.

It sounds a lot like Disturbed's better songs. Meaning it could definitely be worse.

That was disappointing. It just sounds like a b-side from Ten Thousand Fists. At least "Another Way to Die" had an awesome (and different sounding for Disturbed) intro and guitar solo.

I don't get the comparison. Sounds more like "Run" mixed with "Perfect Insanity" to me.

No it definitely reminds me of "Inside The Fire" too. Just, as opposed to the general opinion here, I actually did like it.

I'll have to play the two next to each other, I guess it's been too long since I heard "Inside the Fire". Also, good to see someone else liking it.

It's good but kind of disapointing for a title track. On a side note, wasn't this song supposed to be like 7 1/2 minutes
long?

CutMan
July 16th 2010
1926 Comments

Yeah, I was wondering about that, myself.

From Wikipedia:
"Asylum" was previously thought to be a seven and-a-half minute long epic track. Disturbed had considered it to be the first track on the album for its mood and instrumental intro. However, the song "Remnants" made it to that spot in the end.

doesn't explain much but whatev.

CutMan

I'm betting "Remnants" IS the intro to the song. I'm betting they did that thing some bands do where they kiiiinda chicken out and split the "over-long" intro from the song.

but this does sound like ''inside the fire'' part 2.

This is pretty awful. The lyrics might as well have been written by an 8th grader. Draiman (Howie Mandel) is trying to be Bono....

......Blumper, wrong song. Also, implying Bono is the only one who writes political lyrics or environmental lyrics is idiotic.

Donegan doesn't seem very versatile on the guitar... It just seems like disturbed are a punch of choppy palm muted quick chord changes. Which is sad because I do quite like a few of their songs.

I don't see how "Another Way To Die" is so average, honestly. It starts slower and softer, and not in the usual way, but in a way that really does not give any indication of where it's going, then, bam, fast, signature Disturbed stuff, and a nifty solo demonstrating some growth as a player.

Masterpiece? No. But I still think it stands out on the radio. Unless my radio station just sucks. And I have a feeling it does, but, still.
