I was never a huge fan of Dio, his music or his personality, anything really. I can only imagine how hard it must be to be diagnosed with a deadly disease, and told you may only have months to live. It's tough, and for sticking out for so many months, Dio held out all those months and spit in the face of cancer. For that, rest in peace Dio. Rest in peace.

What about the fact that almost every American who was alive that day can say where they were when
Kennedy was shot? Sounds to me like it was a important and tragic day in many, many people's lives.
That and the whole "internet" thing wasn't quite mainstream back then, and thusly it's a bit more
difficult to comment to a internet news article... in the same fashion as say, someone influential
who died in 2010. Who even knows if Sputnikmusic was around in the 60's? *roll eyes*
I can't say Dio was very important to me, his hay-day was way before my time and any recent stuff
certainly wasn't my thing. But he was incredibly influential to many musicians today and even some
people on this site, and for that reason alone his passing is a big deal. Not to mention the
natural human reaction of sadness after hearing of someones death, whether they were known
personally or not.
But of course, the reasonable reaction to the response of people commenting on the death of an
influential figure in the past and present of metal, is anger. Kudos to you NebSnurb, truly a saint
among men.
