Prophet's right back to work.
| |
What the fuck, didn't he say he was done for a while? Or was that just touring? Not looking forward to this since his last few albums sucked.
| |
i'm glad he's decided not to end NIN just yet
Wizard: there were talks to ending it for a while and then coming back for in maybe 5-10 years time.
But now he's decided against it. although he said NIN may not tour again
| |
He should have ended The Nails after The Fragile.
| |
With Teeth was a bit of a shocker but Year Zero was actually pretty reasonable. The Slip would've been a good ep.
| |
Prophet's right back to work.
You know it. The lack of news while I was away was upsetting.
I'm glad I got to see them on their final tour, they are a great live band especially with the final lineup. I think the new material will be pretty good since he will have time to relax and do what he wants without being rushed.
| |
But couldn't he do that anyway though Prophet? I mean, he is his own boss. Ever since Broken he's been in control of when and how his music gets released.
| |
praise jesus for that
| |
Yeah I guess. Ghost's he said he limited himself to 10 weeks or something, and The Slip seemed like it was rushed out because he wanted to tour and make the money back from the money sink that was the Lights in the Sky Tour. Touring is the only way he was making money free of a label after all.
| |
Yeah, but I doubt Trent's strapped for cash. I know what you're saying though. I think The Slip could've worked quite nicely had he removed a few songs and released it as an ep.
| |
just read that a "The Fragile" rerelease is in the works with a bunch of bonus shit
| |
With Teeth was awesome, Slip and Year were shit.
i thought Reznor was done with NIN, but apparently he's been working on some material it looks like.
| |
Yeah, posted that a while ago, http://sputnikmusic.com/news.php?newsid=11461
I really hope they reissue the vinyl, it's the only one I'm missing.
Agreed Dreams, theres some great songs on The Slip (1 Million, Discipline, Head Down), but some really bad ones too. Trent might've just hit his wall. I think he'll try and collaborate with more artists for the next release to maybe spice things up, that would be cool.
| |
I'm excited. Supposedly he might be working on a video game too.
| |
It would be, agreed Prophet. About that The Fragile rerelease, wasn't that like a 10th anniversary thing? Which means it becomes null and void in a couple of days.
| |
its technically a "tenth anniversary" but its being released in early '10 anyway
| |
I've been wondering when we'd get something from them.
| |
My pants are pretty pissed right now
| |
He should have ended The Nails after The Fragile.
he's spat out some amazing tracks post Fragile, and I thoroughly enjoy Ghosts I-IV. I will agree that generally bands have about 10 years of quality before they start dipping, and NIN is no exception. My problem is that ol' Trenty is getting a bit old and his voice is getting pretty bad. I don't know how well NIN's future will be but we'll have to wait and see.
| |
im listening to Ghosts I-IV right now. i am quite enjoying it
| |
Also listening to Ghosts I-IV
| |
what happened to being done with nin for a while? O.o
| |
k stupid question...if you can pick one album by NIN to get a random dude into them what would it be?
| |
Downward Spiral
| |
ha k then i give up
| |
why? its an amazing album and although its not that easy to "get into, " its is easily their best work.
| |
I'd say With Teeth, it's not the greatest of albums by any means, but it's probably the most simple of all his works.
| |
idk chewie, just never hit me as anything too great, i've tried to get into them for a long time now and thanks dreams ill give that one another shot
| |
he's alive!
| |
Ya welcome Brick.
| |
I am in a state of rediscovery and reinvention that feels unfamiliar Hopefully, this does not mean he is taking a page from Chris Cornell's book, particularly this chapter: 'How to ruin your legacy by working with an over-hyped, mediocre, hip-hop/R&B producer.'
| |
^Given his response to Cornell's solo album, I'd say there's little risk of that. Thankfully.
| |
was just gunna say^
| |
Can't wait, love NIN.
| |
I really wish he'd just quit touring period and just concentrate on making music, the slip was so abysmal.
| |
That's the plan, he's already auctioned off most of their touring gear on ebay and he might not tour ever again, definitely not in the near future. So happy I got to see NIN this summer though before it ended, amazing performance.
| |
The concert in Auckland left a lot to be desired, but that had nothing to do with the band.
| |
I saw them in April, it was amazing, and fulfilled all my wants and desires in the world.
| |
Band was great, but 3 quarters of the way through the show Trent made the announcement that he/NIN weren't gonna tour for awhile, and did the "quitting music for awhile" speech. Numerous cries of "faggot" and "has been" were let loose, felt sorry for Trent.
| |
uggh, that pisses me off that people would be so rude to such a legend. Now granted I think that he should play music and not make speeches, seeing as how people didn't pay to hear him talk, but still.
| |
The speech was fine. If you assume that people attending the show were fans of the band which is obvious, it's news we all should know. It was kinda cool actually, not what he said but wanting to tell us as oppossed to just writing it up on his site etc.
Needless to say, there was no encore that night.
| |
Shame, he played Hurt acousticly at my show as an encore.
| |
Now that would've been amazing.
| |
Yea, it was awesome, I live in Pittsburgh which I guess is sort of a hometown show for him because he's from Mercer County, which is in between Erie and Pittsburgh in PA, and I have a ton of relatives from the area he was born and raised.
| |
Awesome. That fanmade DVD project Another Version Of The Truth was put up on torrent on Christmas too, REALLY awesome stuff.
| |
Really? Hadn't heard of that, checking out now. Is it the fanmade thing they were doing for ghosts?
| |
I know Trent uploaded gigs and gigs of really good quality live performance stuff not too long ago.
| |
Yeah, this is the fully-edited DVD of that footage, as well as the final Las Vegas show for the Lights In The Sky tour. Totally free, Blu-Ray also. Here's the site with the torrent links:

This guy is about as relevant as Vanilla Ice
| |
Boognish, shut the fuck up
| |
Titan50 i have never been anything less than civil towards you, please pay me the same courtesy. Nah jk but Reznor sucks
| |
^^ j/k you're a joke
| |
Don't blame me because you have bad taste in music and like NIN and stone pimple toilets
| |
zing, go fuck yourself I can safely say I have pretty good taste in music
| |
I can safely say I'm a pretty hardcore NIN fan, and I'm really excited about this. A lot of people hate on his albums post-fragility era, but I think that Year Zero is second only to The Downward Spiral. The Fragile is bloated as an album, just like almost every other double-disc release. I'm excited for the content to come!
| |
ITT: Farewell tours are profitable, maybe I'll take more of your money by exploiting your appreciation for my 'band'.
| |
^^ You do know the DVD/project is fanmade and hence free, right? And not to mention Trent's last release was free and he went out of his way to make Ghosts completely affordable for anyone and kept ticket prices pretty low for his shows so wtf are you talking about
| |
I dont care if you think Nine Inch Nails suck, to say Trent Reznor sucks is completely ignorant, the man is a musical legend and has been such a force in pop culture, especially being as he was from the metal scene (industrial metal I know but still for a metal fan like me its the closest we may ever get to a representative). the dude is a fucking legend and people need to pay him some fucking respect.
| |
See its fanboys like you that need to shut the fuck up or just stay on Youtube
| |
I am in no way shape or form a fanboy, I only actually listen to 2 of his cds, I just think if people are gonna trash him its just ignorant.
| |
You didn't really say anything petey other than "I'M OBSESSED WITH THIS GUY LOLOL!!!!!111". I will agree that he's been a force in pop culture through things outside of NIN like producing. Also, he came to the aid of Eric De La Cruz and raised over $850,000 for a heart transplant which is awesome. But srsly, quit being a fanboy.
And you only listen to two CDs, try listening to the guys whole discography before you flame someone for disliking him.
| |
I think the new material will be pretty good since he will have time to relax and do what he wants without being rushed.
Wouldn't you think that his best material came when he was stressed out and pissed of at the world? I think you've stated the reason why this will inevitably suck.
| |
Ha true. I don't think he was ever really pissed at the world though, just high off his mind and pissed at himself. Maybe someone should get him back into coke instead of roids.
| |
Titan50 i have never been anything less than civil towards you, please pay me the same courtesy. Nah jk but Reznor sucks
fuck, you. I hope Charlie Manson cuts your balls off.
| |
Haters need to stfu. Reznor writes good music whether he's pissed/high or not
| |
I don't like NIN but I would kill for Trent to sex me. Ugh, he is so hot. And his regular speaking voice is sexy too.
| |
lol
| |
Ha true. I don't think he was ever really pissed at the world though, just high off his mind and pissed at himself. Maybe someone should get him back into coke instead of roids.
That's better hahahahaha.
| |
i was disappointed. the update was only about 2 inches.
| |
brand new boogish....stfu
| |
he's married now, right? hopefully he doesn't start writing sappy love songs or some shit, though i doubt he would lulz.
| |
have more faith in the man. he knows what his fans are looking for
| |
Besides mediocre Reznor is still a force to be reckoned with, compared to a lot of other artists.
| |
Well this makes me happy, since he has said that he was done.
| |
^^ only with touring, he never said he was completely done with NIN or making music
| |
I personally think his new stuff, besides Ghosts, is terrible and maybe getting out there and touring a bit more might help him get back into that right headspace.
| |
some new material would be interesting to hear.
I hope he takes a turn more like the music on Ghosts but with some kind of lyrics.
| |
nice thing to hear, all of his material was great btw; some plagued with filler but awesome material nevertheless.
| |
I think it's going to be continually interesting just to see what Reznor does. Don't expect the Spiral or the Fragile again, but there may be surprises along the way, with albums like Year Zero. His musical career has never stuck to the ppredictable, and that's admirable.
"something else that isn't nine inch nails" hmmm... Supergroup to replace APC??? Or maybe Tapeworm finally doing something?
| |
Have you even listened to his last few records? He's been predictably mediocre for years now
| |
His material the last few years is no match compared to the Downward Spiral and the Fragile but it's still quality music that I enjoy.
| |
