This looks pretty big and slightly pretentious. I hope the band can live up to the hype.
Cheers guys, I just can't stay away from this site for too long.

lol
im excited
could be epic
could also be a huge failure
ambitious lol
|
| |
Probably going to be bad, especially considering how dumb this tracklist is.
|
| |
Will probably be overblown and overlong, just like Mabool. Brief periods of awesome scattered in a sea of boring.
|
| |
i imagine a lot of instrumental songs scattered around. i dont see how the tracklisting is dumb though, it all is part of the concept. oh and God forbid a band comes out with a long album
|
| |
It's not the fact that it's going to be long, it's the fact that the band is not really capable of making something long that is also interesting all the way through. See: the title track of mabool, and that 10 minute long wankery song that follows it.
|
| |
A long album is fine, but when you have 1 hour and 20 minutes of concept middle-eastern progressive folk metal or whatever I think it will be a little too much.
|
| |
I have huge expectations for this album. Mabool fucking slayed once it finally sunk in.
The emphasis on the OR in ORphan and WarriOR is cringe-worthy however.
|
| |
It's kind ov like Behemoth. Kind ov gay.
|
| |
The concept is clearly about a young middle-eastern boy abandoned by his parents who discovers via some supernatural occurrence that he is blessed with the power of the gods and is destined to become a sacred warrior bound to save all of his people from a terrible evil force, but he fails and his people all perish. Despite his failure his spirit lives on and plots to start civilization anew.
|
| |
i honestly didnt find Mabool overblown, i think for what it was they put all the pieces together perfectly. i do have a bigger stomach for long albums though
|

clearly.

I didn't find Mabool too overblown either. I thought it was incredibly thought-out and well-written. This will almost certainly be overblown but I don't think it will be any less enjoyable because of that.
|
| |
Interesting, i've just gotten into Mabool.
|
| |
This will almost certainly be overblown
Not to be outdone by their next effort, slated for release in August of 2019, entitled Secret Kingdoms Of The Desert, Part XIV: Where The Ghosts Of Our FORefathers Sung Out From The Distant HORizon, Movement V: An Ark Upon An Ocean Of Sand
In all honesty I don't really have high expectations for this but I'll give it a shot nonetheless.

The Journey of The WhORe Part VII: from the street to the stable
|
| |
5/5
|
| |
Crysis, you're just biased. I dont give a shit about the tracklisting or any 39 minute epics split into 4 chapters, if the music is good, that's all that matters.
|
| |
The music will probably be good, yes, but whether they will get rid of the huge amounts of filler in their sound is still up in the air.
|
| |
Is this produced by SW?
|
| |
Yep it is produced by him. I'm excited for this.
|
| |
5/5 tbh
|
| |
Hopefully this album can live up to the hype. Mabool is my favorite metal album of all time so hopefully this can be at least half as good as that.
|
| |
mabool is fucking great, excited
|
| |

Bam!
Where's the song that was to be included called "I Have Difficulties in Distinguishing Between Cultural Mish Mashing"?
|
| |
Steven Wilson is going to ruin this like he's ruined everything else he's touched.
|
| |
NO!
|
| |
It's inevitable. Mabool was awesome, but Wilson is one of the worst things to happen to rock and metal. I have very low expectations for the new ORphaned land.
|
| |
I personally enjoy almost everything Wilson has touched, what's so bad about him? Granted I don't see his style meshing with ORphaned Land as say...Opeth but to say he is one of the worst things to happen to rock and metal is hyperbolic.

um excuse me...what?
|

Wilson puts me to sleep.
Fuck his solo album was a snooze
|
| |
Mabool was overrated. Ill give this a shot but i don't expect much.

Listening to Mabool gave me low expectations tbqh. And if you don't recall, Wilson did produce Blackwater Park.
Fuck his solo album was a snooze
That I can agree with. Suckfest of an album.
|
| |
i'm not so sure about this

Porcupine Tree and Blackfield are two of the worst bands I've ever heard - it's more exciting staring at paint dry. Granted, some of his influence on Opeth isn't as bad as I may claim, but look what happened after too much involvement with Wilson - Ghost Reveries. He's a fucking terrible musician, all his music is excruciatingly bland and boring, and I don't doubt he's going to be doing his best to make Orphaned Land sound like his own shitty stuff. Those who disagree share a common factor, and this is lol music tastes - case in point, 'bodominflames' and Thor.
|
| |
rasputin how much Porcupine Tree have you listened to? Have you checked out The Sky Moves Sideways? its much less boring than their latest stuff seriously. I cant really stand anything post-Signify by them. idk if youd like that more i just find it much more exciting than any of the other shit hes done.
|
| |
i've listened to fear of a blank planet and deadwing
|
| |
yeah those suck ass
|
| |
it's his own fault, if he makes two fucking shitty albums i'm sure as hell not going to give any of his other albums a chance
|
| |
to be fair all the shitty ones came at the end.
damn wilson really pisses you off aye
|
| |
no he doesn't piss me off, the attention he gets pisses me off. he's a subpar musician.
|
| |
from what you can gather from two shitty albums that are basically clones of each other yep
