Lol is this gonna be one of those bands that put out an okay album and then went to shit immediately?

Thought this was pretty great. Especially if this just ends up on a EP.

Song is good but the drums are mixed way too loud

I like their melodic side wayyyy better than their heavy side. the heavy parts are obnoxious as hell. Also what's with the mix?

It was a little weird. Not bad, but still weird. I hope it's just an experimental track and they don't do too many things like that.

I can't express enough how much I dislike the drum mix on this song. It is so fucking bad that it ruins the entire rest of the song for me. It's not just one thing, either. The cymbals are way too loud, it sounds like the head on the snare is broken, the kick is lifeless and lacks impact, and I could barely hear the toms.

ILIIAITE is one of my favorite albums of the last couple years and based on this and that garbage ambient album they dropped last year, I have very little hope for their future. Also, Connor was a major creative force behind some of their best songs, and his departure can clearly be felt here.

Yeah ILIIAITE was a huge surprise for me and I binged it for what felt like months straight. That ambient album didn't give me a lot of hope for the future.

I mean it sounds like this isn’t part of a full LP, so the production quality on this isn’t a big deal imo. At least not in the sense that I’m worried about there being a drop in quality on the next LP

Drum tone is pretty weird and jarring, but otherwise a great song. Love the last 2 minutes. Apparently we're already getting another jam on the 20th too!

This is an old song so I wouldn't count them out just yet.

Interesting song, if a bit all over the place. The more melodic parts remind me of an underground Sacramento band called Eightfourseven.

This and another song dropping on the 20th are part of a collaborative project where they worked with different producers.

I don’t mind it, it’s probably my least favorite song of theirs yet (I don’t count the ambient album) and I didn’t think the heavy parts really fit.

still not great and sounds like shit (on this famously HQ youtube stream), but at least they mostly suck for the same reason Deftones are not great wow

Huh, unpopular opinion, but I kind of like the mixing on this one.

it's the meat of the song itself that isn't jiving with me...I think the melodies fall flat, but that's just me.

@steekbyrnez don't get me wrong (or else!) this isn't as good as any of the good ~bits on the last one, and idk if it's "better" than anything, but at least it sounds like a song made by people who know what songs are??

still redeemable enough that imma have to dib their new alb *sigh*

ed. apparently the rest of the album is still being written? would love to be a fly on that wall lmao

This song is coming from a collaboration project, I’m guessing each track is going to be produced by someone different, or featuring someone new. So if you don’t like the mixing on this, it’s likely this will be the only track with that issue

People on here were talking about how awful the new Mastodon mix was and I thought it was fine so I was expecting the same thing here but... yeah, this sounds weird. The drums sound like a midi kit and the whole thing is ridiculously claustrophobic feeling.

I get a Crosses/Deftones vibe from this, like Self Titled Tones'. I'm for it, but will also echo the same about the mix being trash.

Oof really really disappointed with this. Also the drums really sound like a lot of those annoying Metalcore bands. Loathe didn't belong to those, but this has me worried
