RIP Karma to Burn guitarist 2021-05-01 by Raul Stanciu STAFF | 18 Comments | Karma to Burn guitar player William Mecum passed away on April 29. He was the driving force behind the band and the sole remaining founding member. Unfortunately, he suffered an ultimately fatal head injury from an accidental fall.
Karma to Burn are best known for their late 90s - early '00s output, which includes Wild, Wonderful... Purgatory and Almost Heathen. After a 7-year hiatus, they reconvened in 2009 and released 3 more albums and 3 EPs.
The official statement:
"Dear friends, we come with very heavy hearts to tell you that Will Mecum is no longer with us. Earlier this week, Will suffered a traumatic head injury from an accidental fall. On the evening of April 29th, Will passed on to the next realm. His spirit will live on through his music, and as an organ donor his spirit will live through others who may need help. Words cannot describe how much we appreciated the amount of love and support all of you showed the band throughout the years, it was truly an honor to share the experience of celebrating Will's riffs all over the world. Rest in Power, Will."

dont know him but RIP
| | | Unfortunately, I couldn't find his age on any of the articles I read. What a great live band they were.
RIP
| | | Hard RIP, I used to jam to their stuff a lot. Quality stoner rock.

| | | Whoah RIP
| | | I'm glad I saw KTB live 2 times and the guitarist was great and he had a beer with me and my friends it's sad :-( R.I.P. William

| | | That's terrible... R.I.P.
| | | I thought the bands name was RIP Karma and they were going to burn their guitarist. Might have read that wrong...
Always shitty to hear about a passing
| | | R.I.P. horrible news for anyone to die that suddenly,, fan or not. if i were to check any music from these guys, what should i go for first?
| | | not gonna act like I'm the biggest fan or anything, but chronological imo
Just found out my buddy from works band opened for these guys more than a few times too. Real bummer all around
| | | RIP to the man. Never heard of the band but I jammed Thirty Four and Eight and they're both pretty damn solid. Will dig into their music in honor of dudes untimely demise
| | | @Ian - Almost Heathen and Wild Wonderful Purgatory are their best works. Arch Stanton is the most solid of the later works IMO.
| | | hardest of motherfucking rips for this absolute legend. had the pleasure of seeing KtB play numerous times and they always tore the house down. fav memory: the drummer is from my hometown, and before they left the States for a European tour, they did a fundraiser at a repurposed church there. between songs, Bill got on the mic and said they were doing meet and greets backstage, but only for people under 16, at which point a guy in the crowd yells "HEY! YOU'RE IN A CHURCH!"
Bill looked behind him where Jesus was laying on a crucifix, turns back around and just goes "ah....fuck it" *segue into Fifty-Seven*
| | | that’s fucking hysterical.
I never knew the guy but it sounds like the world lost a good soul
