Soilwork are "Feverish"

2019-10-25 by Toondude | 44 Comments
Swedish melodic death metal group Soilwork have officially released a new single, entitled "Feverish". The new song just comes after the band released their eleventh studio album, Verkligheten, earlier this year. The song is currently part of a trilogy of songs that the band will be releasing over the course of five months, known as "The Feverish Trilogy".

The single also includes the alternate version of "Stålfågel", which has Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy as a gust vocalist, on multiple streaming platforms.

Old stuff is better

Go back to Stabbing the Drama or Sworn to a Great Divide. Those are their best albums

They should stop releasing music so fast (including Night Flight Orchestra) and focus a bit on the songwriting because the new stuff is clearly lacking imo

they should also establish a clear line between nfo and this because it looks like they are starting to have an identity crisis (jeez I'm using that phrase for the second time today, gotta hit that thesaurus)

I dig it overall. Sounds like it could be on the living infinite. Lyrically though, it could be better.

This band just keeps putting out music at a torrid pace. Not an incredible song, but still a respectable effort.

Not crazy about this one and I actually really enjoyed their last album.

I've also definitely noticed that this band's favorite new thing is clean vocals over blast beats.

I like every single Soilwork record with the exception of Sworn to a Great Divide (just pure shit). But that era around like A Predator's Portrait especially is so dope

A Predator's Portrait is my favourite record by them

Natural Born Chaos is awesome too. But I also equally enjoy what they did during the Panic Broadcast - Ride Majestic era. And I actually dig Great Divide more than Stabbing the Drama.

underwelming even by Verkligheten standards [2]

really hope they have something better cookin' on their next record cuz TLI and TRM own and this (and Verkligheten) does not

Intersting, Pika. I don't honestly listen to Soilwork anymore, but if I was going to it'd be either Predator's or Natural Born. Those 2 records are definitely my favorite by them agreed. Some of the first albums of like "real metal" I got into actually (meaning beyond Metallica, etc.).

Steelbath / Chainheart: Good start
Predators / Natural Born Chaos: peak Soilwork
Figure / Stabbing / Sworn: decline to rock bottom
Panic / Living Infinite / Ride Majestic: resurgence
Verkligheten: small dip

It really ebbs and flows with these guys.

I agree with Scheumke's assessment, only that I'm not quite as enthusiastic about NBC as most here are. But not because it's bad, it's simply something in the melodies on taht album that doesn't do it for me

Agree that the panic broadcast was the beginning of the resurgence though

This song is good, but not as good as helsinki

they really lost a lot with dirk verbeuren

I find it hard to fathom how people think that anything other than TLI / TRM is their peak, and I love 80% of their albums. I think those 2 are genre staples and leagues above any of the others. That being said, they really lost a lot with Dirk's departure. Hopefully they can bounce back, but he was such a crucial part of what they did it unfortunately just has not been as good without him

TLI / TRM was their second peak. For me they peaked first with NBC. NBC and TLI are really on the same level for me, the rest doesn't even come close to those two, though yes TRM is a good number 3.

These guys definitely had a second peak with TLI/TRM. They sort of seemed like they were trending in the In Flames direction for a bit in terms of trying to appeal to a more mainstream crowd but I think they actually came back stronger than ever with those two albums. Verkligheten has some fantastic songs too but overall it's not quite as good as TLI/TRM. Definitely excited to see what these dudes do next though.
