Baroness Perform New Track

2019-03-13 by DungeonBoy | 31 Comments
In anticipation for the upcoming LP, Gold and Grey, Baroness have kicked off a 2019 tour and are currently performing a new track "Borderlines" from the upcoming release.

Earlier today the band shared the absolutely gorgeous and predictably intricate full cover painting for the new album on social media platforms, and have announced that Gold and Grey will stand as the 6th and final piece of their chromatically-themed records.

With a new album, they will most likely be touring. They absolutely SLAY live, so go see them.

What happens when these guys run out of colours for album names?

Any news on when the album comes out?

Also they won’t run out of colours...this is the last one with that kind of name?

Gonna be hella weird in a few years when they put out their first non-color-coded album

The statement they released said this will be their last album based on a color.
Saw them perform this new track Sunday night in Dallas. They put on such a good show and I’m beyond hyped for new music now.

@Josh D, yeah dude like calmrose said John Baizley, the front man, does all of the art which is just insane because not only does Baroness rule, but he's also one of the most insanely talented artists of modern times. He does commission work (see Pig Destroyer, Darkest Hour, Kvelertak, etc.) but he might charge you more than a couple hundos.

@BigHans, yeah dude that's what the video is from, their 2019 tour they just kicked off With DEA FHE AVEN.

@PistolPete, no news yet on a release date which is a little odd

In all seriousness I'm hyped as shit for this, and it'll be weird when they stop assigning colours to their records.

Really hoping this is better than Purple, which I thought was a bit of a snoozer outside a few tracks. They always put on a hell of a show though. Cover art is maybe their best yet

Nice. Already tickets for their show in MD, this is the Gold and Grey icing on the cake.

(Also, Zeal & Ardor's opening. Should be sick.)

I've wanted to see these guys live for like 15 years and they've never come closer than like 500 miles to me. Pricks.

It only takes a look at the album art to see that this is basically orange just not in title.

Welp, June 14th is now the release date.. this has been one of the weirdest album announcement releases ever:

* We're posting a bunch of familiar color pantone color IDs on social media
* A week later - Here's the slightly ambiguous pantone color IDs of the new album
* 2 days later - Here's a 15 second teaser video of a new song
* 2 days later - Here's a video of the new song live
* 1 day later - Here's the album art
* 1 day later - Here's the actual entire video of the new song
* 1 day later - Here's the release date

Like, does this work? Is this how one generates the proverbial HYPE?

I think they were originally planning to do something more well thought, but since the album cover leaked they just published everything there was to know.

Did these guys soften quite a bit though? I'm not very familiar with the early stuff but I do remember early Mastodon comparisons...

They started out a little tougher and sludgier but they've been more rock than metal since their first album IMO.

The first EPs and the split were sludge, Red was pretty sludge-influenced, but they got further away from metal as time went by.
