agent you must have missed him saying he hates the idea of an album and wants to release a new recording every month of what he's been playing around with and no one needs to see it as anything more than a hobby he does in his free time and prefers to only quietly and humbly share it with the public.

Reminds me of Matt Good from FFTL saying they won't be recording a full album but rather new songs every once in a while. But yea that makes sense. I was just hoping for some clear-cut announcement so I don't have to worry about the album sorting on my last.fm in the future.

also feels like comics are gerard's main thing now; rn he's in the middle of doing a new volume of umbrella academy and might be doing another one immediately after that. also apparently he's working on more doom patrol after kinda going on hiatus with that title last year.

agreed. i read the comic in fourth grade (eleven years ago) and the netflix show did a great job of simultaneously honouring the source material and building something quite compelling and original from it. like, obviously it's not a super close adaptation of the book, but it's not like they just did a surface-level adaptation by taking the basic premise and completely ignoring everything else about the comic; rather, the way they adapted elements of the comic made it clear that they'd closely read and understood gerard and gabriel's original work and weren't about the spit in the face of that. a key example of this is the characters: all of the umbrella kids' characterisation from the comic is there, and any new character elements feel like they're expanding on--rather than being in conflict with--the comic. obviously it's not a perfect season of tv, but at least in terms of its regard for the source material, it was pretty freaking satisfying.
