insert that 3 Stacks song directly into my veins
Digging: Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein - Stranger Things 3
Don't Miss It is unbelievably good and I am so excited.
That 3K song is absurdly great, he played it during a DJ set in December (saw it online, wasn't actually there lol)
Digging: Joliette - Luz Devora
wow, it doesn't have if the car beside you? epic fail. that's like one of his few actually good songs in the last 8 years. don't miss it was so boring
Digging: black midi - Schlagenheim
I like Don't Miss It but also think Car Beside You is way better/also disappointed it's not on here
"(Ft. Rosalia)" Ayayayay...
Digging: Lingua Ignota - Caligula
it's just more of his boring rnb shtick for me. remember how creative his debut was? and a few of his eps back in the day. ever since then he's been churning out some pretty homogeneous shit, that's why i was so stoked on car beside you, it was a true return to form for him. this lead single leads me to believe it's just gonna be more of the same minimalist piano driven smooth bs as before
"epic fail"
From the sound of his DJ set which played like 12 minutes of new material it was a bit poppier than usual and very beat heavy, the Andre song fucking KNOCKS
damn straight it's an epic fail. song was one of the few redeeming qualities in a sea of mediocrity for nearly a decade
As inconsistent as James Blake has indeed been since his debut it kind of sounds like you havent actually heard anything since based off your criticisms Matt. There are some shitty piano focal "smooth bs" songs for sure and they are always his worst but that's not an accurate descriptor for the other 75% of the songs
Where's the best place to start with this guy?
Easily his self-titled debut
the car beside you was amazing too
"Where's the best place to start with this guy?"
Digging: Special Request - Vortex
I'd say debut too.
Goddamn that feature list is sexy. James Blake and Rosalia??? Hell yesssss
potsy you're right he has done some experimental stuff but i haven't been into much of it
Don't Miss It is such a great song. Super stoked for this album, especially after the quality of tunes on The Colour in Anything. I have quite liked his foray into hip-hop and writing for pop stars.
@gyro I feel like the length of his last album makes it feel more homogeneous than it actually is in particular. But there are some straight bangers on it!
The run from "Choose Me" to the closer would be my favorite JB album.
I hope the new one pops off tho and the tracklist doesn't look overwhelming. I'm seeing him in March and get a free copy of the new alb with my ticket so fingers crossed. Also I liked the car song kinda but I'm glad it's not listed, it strikes me as a single and I can't see it making sense in the context of a Blake lp
i REALLY hope this is the one where he realizes his full potential guebhioafegbou
It's ok if it isnt now that bearcubs exists tho
ok bearcubs is good yeah but JB has a lot of sentimental/nostalgic value to me lol
Listen to bearcubs hard enough and ull get that eventually too!
4 lines in and I'm calling that this is one of those lame "reads different backwards and forwards" poems.
Album sounds like fucking art-house Robin Thicke lmao, an astounding failure
reminds me more of Mac Miller's The Divine Feminine, aka the album-long equivalent of being shown an endless line of baby photo after baby photo and feigning interest bc you want them to be happy but also you couldn't possibly care less
Fair enough, it's just soooooooo fucking bland
why is the new single just a boring ass trap song
Because the album is garbage
what a shame
Is it as bad as the album art tho? The fuck were they thinking with that one
I mean James Blake isn't exactly known for good album art. It fits his theme of narcissism tho
forreal, if he had other than himself on it then I can understand the complaint but it’s no worse than overgrown. it’s intimate, it’s his, he doesn’t care.
I actually dig his album art most of the time. This might be a one off, but then again I haven't even heard the full album yet. So far, Mile High ain't bad, Lullaby For My Insomniac doesn't do anything for me
Cover is super normal and people making a big deal out of it are weird lol
hm, guess it's just not my thing....!
"the album-long equivalent of being shown an endless line of baby photo after baby photo and feigning interest bc you want them to be happy but also you couldn't possibly care less"
Spot on Row
I've heard that putting your hands on your head like that actually opens up your airways more to get more oxygen to the body
Digging: UNKLE - Psyence Fiction
it literally does
this guy needs to not suck
i like him otherwise
