BOWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE
| |
fuck this
| |
Does it rule, Next Day did HARD.
| |
This shits on anything from Next Day
| |
Can't listen now, but god I want this to be good
| |
Row whaaaaat?! Next Day was awesome.
| |
agreed it was, and this is even better. In fact probably the best song he's released since Scary Monsters
| |
Holy poop song is awesome
| |
THIS IS FIRE
| |
This is actually insanely good.
| |
tommy says it's gud
it must b gud
| |
middle section of this song gives me a boner the length of Bowie's career
| |
Dude omg I am so so stoked now.
| |
is that major tom in the spacesuit?
rip hard
| |
Major Tom was never actually in space bro
| |
How does Bowie do it? How is he STILL going?!
| |
this is good
| |
"How does Bowie do it? How is he STILL going?!"
he's probably still quite young in the alien years of his home planet
| |
lol Rowan
| |
damn this is good
| |
I love how the mid section sounds like Bowie going back to his poppier roots
| |
this was great
| |
Pretty good. Aging rockers ought to look to him and Rush for guidance.
| |
yeah this rl good
| |
this is fucked. i like it
| |
"middle section of this song gives me a boner the length of Bowie's career"
summed up my thoughts exactly good job Ro.
| |
BOWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
| |
laughingman always on the wavelength
| |
that dance reminds me of fashion hard
| |
Well this rules very hard.
| |
2016 AOTY
| |
goddamnit bowie
| |
album of the year 2016 game over folks Bowie won already gg everybody else
| |
exactly
| |
drums rule and the horns rule and the vibe rules and bowie rules
| |
album of the year 2016 game over folks Bowie won already gg everybody else [2]
| |
5:32 for nightmares
| |
it's the vibe it's Mabo it's everything
| |
suffer in ya jocks
| |
that middle section is just ace
| |
David Bowie is a god among men.
| |
His best song in twenty years. Wow.
| |
I would argue 30 at least
| |
first part got a radio/king crimson thang goin' on
middle part is kinda vintage bowie
then last interlude is like tasteful kraut jamz.
sweet song.
| |
"I would argue 30 at least"
*1 year tbh
| |
Implying Sue is nearly as good as this lol
| |
not nearly as good duh
emphasis on best
13 years sound better to you?
| |
The dude's SEVENTY-FREAKIN-ONE and he's still killing it. What a badass.
| |
what songs post-Scary Monsters do you think are better than this Fripp?
| |
i remember digging next day but i think this blows anything from it away.
that anything of his stuff in many decades.
| |
good song, somwhere between his krautrock days, Scott Walker avant-garde, and classic 70s Bowie. Video is so weird as only Bowie can.
| |
Better? That's difficult to say considering this hasn't been out for even a day.
To answer the question, Slow Burn.
| |
I'm not sure I love it, but it sure is interesting.
| |
First half was a bit odd (but good) and then once the song shifted into poppier territory and kept descending into madness.. MY DICK BECAME FUCKING DIAMONDS
| |
Middle part is vintage fucking Bowie quality agreed
| |
best part yes
| |
Beginning part kinda reminds me of what Wilson and Akerfeldt were tryina do with Storm Corrosion but better
shared Scott Walker influence I guess
| |
Really need to listen to this genius more. This track is great
| |
January 8th, is his b day
| |
Great song and the video brings a tear to the eye, the geezer has still got it
| |
This man is a fucking genius.
| |
He's nearly 70 years old, yet continues to make awesome trippy music. Amazing.
| |
a good song until the 5 minute mark, where it starts to sound like something out of the next day. points for trying though
| |
it sounds nothing like the next day's material though
| |
@Fripper I'm not saying it's a direct copy of the next day, just that it reminds me of it a bit (the steady bit, the "old" voice, the kinda-weird-but-not-really arrangements).
| |
magical
| |
definitely his best since scary monsters. what an atmosphere!! can't wait for the new album
| |
I think Outside and Earthling are hugely underrated albums. To me, this is his most interesting effort since those albums.
This is definitely a step forward from "The Next Day," which I enjoyed despite its similarities to "Reality" and "Heathen."
| |
I didn't like Sue (or a Season of a Crime) - it was obviously a test drive for this.
| |
First five minutes just sounded weird for the sake of being weird. I especially did not like the vocals in that section.
| |
I love you Bowie.
| |
David Bowie meets King Crimson meets real aliens who tell him how their music sounds and he nails it
| |
Wibbly Wobbly dancers, bandages, Rasta Monster and by Christ what the fucking hell are you prattlin' on about Dave?
Depending on how the album pans out there's a potential classic coming our way.
| |
"First five minutes just sounded weird for the sake of being weird. I especially did not like the vocals in that section."
lol it's not even that weird ya nonce.
| |
Damn this is tight
| |
I want to still be making music when I'm 97 or however old this guy is. Props to him.
| |
Seriously, Bowie, how are you still this good after all this time?
| |
Am I the only one that didn't like this? :/ But then again I've never jammed Bowie.
| |
This was interesting. For his age too, goddamn... what a man!
| |
That was excellent and weird and perfect. I'm excited for Blackstar and might just skip ahead and listen to it as soon as it comes out. 90s Bowie can wait heh.
| |
"Am I the only one that didn't like this? :/ But then again I've never jammed Bowie."
Wow calc. Just wow.
| |
at the centre of it allllllllllllllllllll
stop comparing this to crimson you wanks
this is actually good :D
| |
Agreed
| |
K, that worked pretty well. Hopefully this was representative of the rest of the album.
| |
If some of the other tracks are a similar length it'll still be a pretty decently lengthed album... (Don't think lengthed is a word but you know what I mean.)
| |
Listened to very very little of his material but this is really dope
| |
Man what an interesting song. Hope the whole album is this out there and ambitious.
| |
yeah no
| |
prob just snox realising he was lacking in the shitty opinion quota for today dw
| |
check muh mixtape yo bowie sucks
| |
so you checked a song by an artist you never liked and felt the need to shit on it got it makes sense
| |
no one cares
| |
"Yeah this was trash"
elaborate, maybe?
| |
All I got from the comment was "it's trash/i didn't enjoy this" the thing is, you didn't clarify as to why
I mean, at least this is dividing some people but just popping in to say it's bad like you're Snide in a Beyonce thread is not adding anything to the discussion
| |
so you're just being a contrarian
nah
| |
snox u are probably the lamest most painfully un-self-aware overly self-important melodramatic lil bitch this site has ever seen
| |
dont u have some death metal chugs to go be abrasive as shit about and pretend ur kvlt as fuk even tho uve never met another metalhead in your life and u wear your battle jackets like kashmir scarves u fucking douche
| |
go temper your hair with coconut oils and cinnamon ya taint smear
| |
yoooooooo lllllllllllllllllllol
| |
lmaooo
| |
this song gave me a Bowie-ner
| |
Holy. Fucking. Shit.
King
| |
This is so good. I'm blown away.
| |
Incredible.
| |
A shame I haven't experienced a Bowie album yet - maybe it's time to get on that, seeing how fucking fantastic this is
| |
Very good song. 68 years old and Bowie's still putting contemporary rock to shame.
| |
it's okay guys
| |
It's more than okay.
| |
okay
| |
Wow that was easy. You didn't take much convincing.
| |
It's way more than okay
| |
I honestly hope that this album is as good as Blackstar, the title track. I was nervous when it was tied in with The Last Panthers or whatever that show is called. If so, it is his best since Scary Monsters..
| |
Wow i hope the rest of the album is this amazing
| |
this is exactly what I need now
| |
AT THE CENTRE OF IT ALLLLLLLL!
How can something so off kilter be so catchy?!
| |
David Bowie for pope, mane. The guy is killing it hard with this track!
| |
Really really really love how the track finishes. So poignant.
| |
it's like squirting after morning sex, followed by frosted flakes.
| |
Amazing song
| |
so good
| |
Late to the party. This shit is awesome.
| |
wow you guys are serious
| |
Hype for the new album
| |
H Y P E T R A I N
| |
Fripp, did you know sue or in a season of crime will be on Blackstar? I was quite surprised when I found out
| |
there is no official source for the tracklist, it's just people spreading bullshit. I'd find it incredibly lazy if he seriously put those on the album.
| |
Sue is an amazing tune, this is as well.
Album has massive potential. Nice one Grandad.
| |
Coolest grandad ever
| |
so apparently, Blackstar is longer than 10 minutes according to this article. The version released is a single edit due to iTunes not allowing singles to be longer than just that.
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/the-inside-story-of-david-bowies-stunning-new-album-blackstar-20151123?page=2
| |
That's the first time I've ever seen a single edit of a song be longer than 10 minutes
| |
Looks like Sue and 'Tis A Pity will be on the album then, could be re-recorded or something though
| |
okay guess the sources were right sort of, but I've seen absolutely nothing said about the tracklist with anything to back it up. I guess it just leaked early or something, but I hope Sue and Pity were redone or else that'd be shit
| |
To be honest I always thought Pity sounded a little bit unfinished in terms of production, I suppose we'll have to wait and see. I wouldn't mind if they just kept Sue the same because it's a fantastic song.
| |
yeah at least some difference to them would be good
apparently, James Murphy was going to be producing the album as well as playing on it
| |
pitchfork likes this so you have to like it too, public service announcement
| |
I dig the new song but I can understand why someone else doesn't it's not exactly accessible.
| |
This is the least accessible thing he's done since at least Outside
| |
good
| |
holy shit son, my boy bowie bringing his a-game tight as fuck
| |
@ Fripp & Tunaboy: According to one review, Sue and 'Tis a Pity are remixed for the new album. "Sue (Or in a Season of Crime)...reappears...in a tougher reworking with aggressive distorted guitar..." and "'Tis a Pity She Was a Whore...is fully realized now with billowing clouds of sax provided New York jazz musician Donny McCaslin..."
--Sounds promising.

| |
ooh boy, neat
| |
Incredible, as are all of the comments!
| |
'His bandmate Donny McCaslin claimed the song is about ISIS.' Interesting
| |
yet others say that is not the case
| |
Actually keen af for that new version of Sue but slightly disappointed we're only getting four (?) new tunes
| |
If it's four blinders, it'll be aoty
| |
am i the only person who thought this was w.e?

^^^"He [Bowie] has a massive massive reputation as a Satanist."
Lol
| |
holy fuck lmao
| |
I keep jamming this. I had no expectation of liking a Bowie song from 2015, but this shit is el uno, el solo, el fuego.
| |
Bowie just released the audio for a new song, lazarus.
Album is gonna be a masterpiece
| |
Was expecting this to be for Lazarus... but instead I clicked old new.
Regardless Lazarus rules too.
| |
Lazarus is fucking great, hot damn. I cannot wait for this record to drop
| |
" Wibbly Wobbly dancers, bandages, Rasta Monster and by Christ what the fucking hell are you prattlin' on about Dave?
Depending on how the album pans out there's a potential classic coming our way."
I told ya!!
| |
Look at doof's album prediction list, we nailed it
| |
Your username and your comment together made me lol
Another good alt wtf
