New Geoff Rickly mixtape

2013-06-22 by dimsim3478 | 15 Comments
Former Thursday frontman Geoff Rickly has released his second solo mixtape, entitled Darker Matter/// Mixtape 2, for free via his Bandcamp page. The recordings further demonstrate Rickly's newfound musical direction since departing Thursday, which evidently incorporates a dark folktronica aesthetic and experimental arrangements. Anthony Green (of Circa Survive) previously commented via his Twitter page that the tape gave him "goose bumps on my ear boners".

Rickly is currently touring nationally with Vinnie Caruana (of The Movielife and I Am the Avalanche), having completed recent tours with Taking Back Sunday's John Nolan in May and a club tour with Anthony Green late last year. Since Thursday's demise, Rickly's work in addition to his solo activity includes a stint as vocalist for the reunion of Ink & Dagger, and work with the supergroups Cut Throat Tactics (with Ben Weinman of The Dillinger Escape Plan and members of Ink & Dagger) and United Nations, though little news has surfaced regarding the latter two projects. Rickly was also robbed at gunpoint around late May/early June of an iPad, iPhone, passport, wallet, credit cards, medicine and rent money.

Needs more United Nations. Aren't they working on an album? I know they released a small 3 track cassette during recent shows.

^The robber started a Twitter account or something under Geoff's name and uploaded pictures of himself and Geoff was like "yep, that's the guy who robbed me".
