Amorphis reveal album details

2013-01-25 by Metalstyles EMERITUS | 26 Comments
Finnish metallers Amorphis will release their 11th studio album, titled Circle, on April 19th in Europe and on April 30th in North America via Nuclear Blast. The album will be mixed and produced by Peter TÃĪgtgren of Pain and Hypocrisy fame.

Regarding the album's concept: "The protagonist has been dealt a bad hand at birth. He's always felt himself an outsider with strong potential to become marginalized. Through an accident, after a crisis, he finds a connection with his inner powers. A guide is sent to him, from some other time and place. He gets a chance to take hold of his own life and change his destiny. From the past of Carelian Finland he finds his own spiritual tribe and the power to turn the course of his doomed life. This is a story of survival."

Vocalist Tomi Joutsen continues on the album's title: "Circle represents integrity. Back in the days, when there was something special to talk about, wise men used to sit in circle. Not everyone was invited to join them. But in this story, the protagonist was invited among the wise men's circle."

Tracklist:

01. Shades Of Gray

02. Mission

03. The Wanderer

04. Narrow Path

05. Hopeless Days

06. Nightbird's Song

07. Into The Abyss

08. Enchanted By The Moon

hmm different direction with cover art. Excited for this. Kinda hoping though that the band tries something new because their current style got kind of stale with their last one

Agreed skoopy48, I hope they try something new in or outside their current sound, because, indeed, it's getting a bit stale.

And The Beginning of Times was quite stale regardless when or what Silent Waters was.

Great news.
I still think Elegy is their best.

Read this as Animorphs and nostalgia'd HARD.

Band has always been boring

Not always, the records up to Tuonela are great at least, whereas they have some great post-Tuonela albums as well.

Never liked TFTTL. Don't understand why people say it's their best. Just average melodeath.

it's far from average melodeath. it's got a strong doom influence with an atmosphere that is rarely found in "average melodeath". besides, it's barely melodeath in the strict sense.

@Gard3n
I'm going to be like everyone else and say that you are wrong. TFTTL is my favorite Amorphis album besides from Silent Waters, but that doesn't count becuase SW is too good.
