I like the album cover, but that doesn't apply to the song
|
| |
i know it's been a while but wow. linkin park is completely unrecognizable to me.
|
| |
Cool cover but I'm pretty sure this will suck.
|
| |
i liked a thousand suns, so im not one of those phony fuckers who would rip any linkin park song even if it went hard as fuck
but that song was fucking awful. wow.
|
| |
I didn't like the song.
|
| |
Yeah the album art recalls the fun that was Hybrid Theory or Reanimation. The track opens rather nicely, but the vocals remind me of their quasi-worship songs from A Thousand Suns.
|
| |
So when they said they were going back to their old sound, they were lying. Cool.
Song's ok, but a bit generic. Love the cover though.
|
| |
I enjoy it. I as long as they don't release another Minutes to Midnight, it should be decent
|
| |
shite
|
| |
anarchist stop using the word generic. i mean, it actually applies here, but for fucks sake learn another word you are such an idiot dude..
|
| |
My joints are aching. I sense a shitstorm coming....
|
| |
This sounds like Hybrid Theory mixed with A Thousand Suns in a good way, Mikes rapping section reminds me a lot of his delivery on Meteora and such. Its gonna be better than A Thousand Suns though.
|
| |
What the fuck happened to this band?
|
| |
@Bass - That's not saying that much.
|
| |
Mikes rapping section reminds me a lot of his delivery on Meteora and such.
i mean most of us who are still on board have been clamoring for more rap but i disagree hard on this... it was nice that they tried but his part on this track is fucking GOOFY
|
| |
Yeah Guys!
Shinoda rapped for a total of 20 seconds on the new song..
Linkin Park is back!
|
| |
listened to the track, don't know why i did since i knew it would be awful
|
| |
I'll keep monitoring how the events unfold....
|
| |
WHAT I'VE DONE!!!!
|
| |
Only their fifth fucking studio album? Jesus Christ I feel like they make an album every 6 months.
|
| |
Same about the cover, it's really cool, but they've gone way off the track. It doesn't suit them, but I don't know if I'd like them to go the their original sound either.
|
| |
This album will mark a turning point in their carrier when their shitty albums outnumber the good ones.
|
| |
Iunno I've really had little trouble adjusting to their huge shift to the electronica genre. This isn't too bad. I agree though, they're idiots, how is this a return to Hybrid Theory? Reminds me of when Tool said 10000 Days was gonna be like Meshuggah. Riiiigggghhhhtt
|
| |
anarchist stop using the word generic.
Lol and when was the last time I used it?
Yeah I know what it means
|
| |
WE'RE BUILDING IT UP!!!!
|
| |
the track's a 3/5 for me. the keyboards are catchy and the overall feel is cool but the chorus is a little meh and I feel like that rap was written by a 4 year old. still probably better than anything i've heard off their last two crappy albums.
|
| |
well i wont be listening to that song again if i can help it
shame because i used to love this band
|
| |
transformers 4!!!
|
| |
Spin said this was the only 'pop driven' one they heard of the 5 they got to listen to. Good thing, maybe?
|
| |
song wasn't too bad, just very average.
|
| |
Wasn't terrible, I actually kind of enjoyed it. Let's not get too hopeful for the album though
|
| |
I really like the album cover, but I'm not exactly a Linkin Park fan.
|
| |
I could have sworn they already had a song called "Burn it Down".
|
| |
I mean, I think it sounds better than anything off of there last two shit-can records.
|
| |
@JeetJeet You probably mix "Burn It Down" with "Bleed it Out" or something.
Song's a 3.5 from me, and I'm a big LP fan boy so yeah, song wasn't as good as I'd hoped, but far better than what I feared! And yes... the album artwork is amazing.

Linkin Park Album Info:
It will be mediocre music with fancy cover art.

|

ugly as fuck
|
| |
Song was catchy, but will get old upon a few listens. Its a shame to see LP following the coattails of all the other alt./electronica groups without adding anything original to the mix.
|
| |
CRAWWWWLING IN MY SKIINNNN
THESE WOUNDS THEY WILL NOT HEALLLLLL
|
| |
heard songs with this similar theme a thousand times before.
but like everyone else has said, the cover is pretty rad.
|
| |
This album will suck cock
|
| |
I don't know... just sounds old.
Cover is cool, although it reminded me of the one Red used for their latest.
|
| |
just let shinoda rap jesus christ
|
| |
The lead synth during the rap part sounds like the synth from the intro of Filth Friends Unite.
|
| |
Living things ??
That title is a joke but the cover is sick as hell ,and the single wasn't that bad but also wasn't very good either , is a remix between new divide and ATS with shinoda's rapping .Antoher 2,5 for the collection is coming .
|
| |
Does this sound anything like a thousand suns? I actually enjoyed that album.
|
| |
The electronic effects in this song are very similar
|
| |
And apparently they're going to be releasing remixes of the songs. When you pre-order the album you get a
subscription to those.
|
| |
Sweet, then this is for sure going to be something I'll be looking forward to. I'll have to listen to the song later.
|
| |
gonna be butts on a plate
|
| |
That was probably the most awful thing I heard in a long time. Definitely felt like only Chester and Mike were involved this piece.
|
| |
no guitarist more money for the chestnut.
|
| |
Song blows. Boring as usual.
|
| |
Man, they've been trying hard to keep guitar out of their songs.
|
| |
The worst part are the comments on the lyrics video on yt
|
| |
Oh man, their worst single yet? Jesus christ, how did they write Hybrid Theory and Meteora?
|
| |
At least this has guitar unlike 90% of A Thousand Suns
|
| |
yeah, this single doesn't excite me
i would have gladly welcomed a return to HT if they were gonna do it right and do it better than the first outing, but this just sounds uninspired
|
| |
It's not a bad song by any means, but it's just plain. Reminds me a bit too much of radio music.
|
| |
I'm probably repeating things but there's no way the bloc can't comment on a LP thread.
The art is kickass, it actually looks like something some dubstep act would use tbh.
The song, however, isn't that bad...but does anyone think it is very The Rasmus like? Especially the verses.
|
| |
I've never heard of The Rasmus before, but I just previewed some of their stuff on iTunes, and I'd say I agree with you.
|
| |
Yeah, right? Chester's vocals in the first verse particular remind me of the vocals in The Rasmus.
|
| |
WE'RE FUCKING SICK OF CHESTER WHINING WITH NO INSTRUMENTATION BESIDES A SHITTY DRUM TRACK IN THE VERSES!
|
| |
Average stuff. Give Shinoda more spotlight, man, nobody's interested in Chester's whining.
|
| |
The album cover is boring exactly as the last album cover.
The song... It's better not to say... I can't hear the new material , and that's include the latest alvum.
They are doing what they think is best for them ( And they're still selling) , but I wish they go back to Nu-Metal . I loved the first 2 albums.
|
| |
mike is a much better singer anyway.
|
| |
the only time chester sung well was in Waiting for the end
|
| |
Not bad
|
| |
Not a bad song at all, maybe a little above average, so 3/5 for it. The album title is disappointing, but the cover art is awesome (most of us seem to agree on that) and reminds me of their older stuff. Overall, I feel optimistic about this record. By the way, Chester is a great vocalist, I don't really get all the bashing.
|
| |
3 or 3.5 for me too, but hearing that it's the most pop song of the album also gives me a lot of hope for an awesome album. And totally agree about Chester.
|
| |
i dont like that cover
|
| |
By the way, Chester is a great vocalist, I don't really get all the bashing.
Some people don't like his style ,that's not my case
|
| |
By the way Bloc , the chorus sound like something coming from dead letters combined with new divide
|
| |
Yeah, I also thought about New Divide when I heard it.
|
| |
really bad
sounds like the theme to the new Transformers movie
also Mike's part seems way too forced
|
| |
this doesn't even sound like Linkin Park. never thought back in my middle school days they would go from rad nu metal rapcore shit to this. oh well. glad I'm not a fan anymore.
|
| |
These guys should be featured in an episode of The Simpsons and then retire after having reached the height of their career. Maybe they can all drown in a polluted lake aswell, that went well for the other band that did it...
...Right?
|
| |
In the end will be played in the Springfield's Church
|
| |
stop working with Rick Rubin you morons
|
| |
Not bad. The chorus is pretty good, but Shinoda's part was so unnecessary. They ought to realize that there is no benefit to having a rap interlude in these types of songs. Write different material if you still want to do that stuff.
|
| |
art work is cool. and although it's average, apart of me liked it.
|
| |
Art work reminds me of the Reanimation days. I hope they at least make a decent album because that song sucked.
|
| |
Cool cover.
Okay title.
Painfully generic song.
I thought A Thousand Suns was pretty decent.
Album comes out the day before I road trip to relatives for the summer. I'm optimistic it won't completely suck, though we all know it most likely will.
|
| |
i miss mike's flow
|
| |
Initial thought - wtf is this shit
after a couple listens - its okay
|
| |
Mike flow is not so good in this song ,lyrics are okay but he could do it so much better
|
| |
I think it sounds more like meteora, but what it seems to be missing that their first two albums had, is the cohesiveness as 1 unit.
The vocals, the rapping, and the instruments do not fit like they did in their first 2 albums, it's almost like they are all recording separate projects then piecing them together.
|
| |
I liked it, and I always love it when Chester actually sings. Can't deny that kind has a hell of a set of lungs when he wants.
|
| |
Refuse to listen
|
| |
It certainly wasn't the worst thing in the world, just really painfully average
|
| |
Sounds like a Black Eye'd Peas song.
That said...
none of these guys at any point ever promised this new cd was going to be "heavier" material, and I have no idea where a lot of you guys got that from.
|
| |
If anyone is curious: http://www.spin.com/articles/linkin-park-open-about-hybrid-vibe-june-album
|
| |
Just listened to the song. It is very, VERY bad. Like, really. It sounds like a Minutes To Midnight B-Side. The verses are uninspiring, and sound like something some particularly dull teenager would write, and also - what of that backing music they're using? I think it's best described as a cross between the wheezing groans of a century-old carburetor and an 8-bit arcade game.
I feel cold and lost in desperation.
|
| |
"I feel cold and lost in desperation."
I see what you did there.
|
| |
Every band says "Oh it's going to sound a lot like this album or that album" but it never does...
|
| |
Not that I had high expectations for this or anything, but holy fuck this is awful. That beat is so god damn lame and uncreative. And the electronics? Did they make this in audacity? One of the worst songs they've done.
|
| |
I've never turne my back on Linkin Park. They were the first band that made me fall in love with music and dive into the rabbit hole of music. Those who know about this album's conception will know many have questioned why Linkin Park hasn't tread their old ground lately. Well, as true artists (no matter your taste or preference is) there's always limitations to people who grow and love music. Linkin Park has remained a band for nearly 12 years without a single line up change since. Why? Because they've learned the best way to stay close with one another is to grow with another. Their music grows more mature with every album. With this song (more catchier and uplifting than any of their previous albums) stills shows a sophisticated sound that has been influenced rather than creates its own music. Originality may be their pursuit, but they've proven that long ago with their debut that they made an impact and grow with the music to stay relevant in the world.
|
| |
It does sound like a Miike Snow, love child version of "New Divide."

I did good huh
Song wasn't god-awful just...generic. Definitely doesn't need Mike trying to awkwardly rap-talk, and
the verses are as terrible written as ever.
|
| |
Why have people rated this album already? It hasn't leaked has it?
|
| |
^People know shit when they see it. No reason to taste it aswell.
|
| |
This is so boring... I have a soft spot for Linkin Park, but this is so generic. Sounds like it was written in a couple of hours.
Rapping was SO forced, didn't even fit. However Chester's vocals on their own would have been even more painful. Where's the
fucking guitars! Enough with this electronic soundscape thing they have got going on!
|
| |
It's a bit boring (I also have a soft spot for LP) Mike's part was pretty awesome actually but far too short.
Hopefully this is just the "radio song" and the rest of the album is a bit more interesting?
|
| |
It's boring, but it's not offensively horrible.
The worst part of this is the lyrics. I'm so sick of hearing those same lines in every fucking song. As soon as I saw the title I just sighed at how painfully predictable it was.
|

This.
|
| |
"It's boring, but it's not offensively horrible."
I am actually literally offended by the fact that they say this is supposed to be more like Hybrid Theory, and they release something that sounds like metro station featuring Gym Class Heroes. Every song like this has the EXACT same beat and it's boring as hell. Doesn't even sound like anyone besides the vocalists even had to record anything for this one. Song is a 1/5.
|

someone made a list of every song they could think of with those lines in it, it was fucking hilarious
band is unrecognizable
|
| |
The rap section felt completely out of place, but otherwise i enjoyed it.
|
| |
Mehh, not my thing..
|
| |
riffs
|
| |
Song was way too poppy to be my thing. I kind of liked where they were headed on ATS, sad to see that this is a step back.
Also, lol, that rap.
|
| |
might recommend it to my mom
|
| |
I will continue to hard headily pretend that Linkin Park did not release anything after Meteora

|
| |
"Some were saying ghost writers were writin' all that we do" - Mike Shinoda on reception of Hybrid Theory. Considering their work since Meteora, I'm more and more convinced that was the case.
|
| |
Rick Rubin should stick to Slayer and leave "Nu Nu Metal" alone lulz. This is nowhere near Hybrid Theory, sorry. The track could easily have been on A Thousand Suns or at least Minutes To Midnight.
Poor LP.
|
| |
songs boring as fuck. lets see another fort minor album before another lp
|
| |
Yeah, I like the cover, but the song just sounds like a B-side from ATS.
|
| |
One of the first comments under the YouTube video:
I've become so numb I can't even see What i've done. I think if something was crawling in my skin from the top to the bottom. I'd start breaking the habit tonight, and stop using drugs.
lol
|
| |
this is necessary
|
| |
when you're as big as linkin park, why give a shit how good your music is? people will be lapping it up and it'll be in the next transformers soundtrack.
|
| |
boring....how surprisingly
|
| |
not only bad but not very marketable
|
| |
Completely forgot this single was coming out. Not that I cared all that much, I was rather curious to hear the "return to Hybrid Theory" though.
This sounds like What I've Done with different lyrics. As cheesy as it is, this band needs more energy and yeah... even some more angst. Part of what made Hybrid Theory great (when I was a teen) was being fucking one step closer to the edge and about to break. This is just another attempt at an "anthem" with some rapping thrown in.
His singing has also gotten worse IMO.
Kind of makes me want to go on a "classic" Linkin Park binge though. Take that for what it's worth lol.
|
| |
The song isn't bad. It's a nice mix of the last two albums.
|
| |
Yeah, except M2M was awful...
Nice new avatar btw
|
| |
It was pretty bad, I agree, but the addition of the new album kind of makes up for it.
|
| |
Wasn't that bad, but, how come they're releasing a new album this fast
|
| |
M2M was a hit or miss for me ,it had some good songs , the balads ruined a big part of the album but other tracks were enjoyable
|
| |
I'm now addicted to this song.
|
| |
enjoyed it, i must be a demon
|
| |
