Billy, was this on the cards?
That is a lot of differences right there!
|
| |
Gee, didn't see this one coming, though I was not as keen a follower as Billy.
Sounds like some issues between Ezekiel and the rest of the band, obviously.
|
| |
Oh man, really?
At least do a farewell tour.
|
| |
So Billy's gonna be devastated and stuff...
|
| |
Billy may have to change his name to Karnivoolian.
|
| |
It doesn't have the same ring, maybe Jericconian?
|
| |
BirdsOfTokyoian?
No, no, I have it; DefLeppardian.
|
| |
Surely not.
|
| |
Kill your boss and take all his money, eh?
|
| |
What the hell!? These guys were just about to hit it big and had a huge following!
|
| |
man this sucks, and i missed their last tour
hopefully their new bands will be just as good
|
| |
What?!? I literally got into these guys last week. What a bummer.
|
| |
What. Shit.
|
| |
What
The
Fuck
Dammit!
|
| |
Does anyone have any idea what Zeke's new project is going to sound like, apart from being folk/rock?
|
| |
Have you listened to Winter in Suburbia?
|
| |
My take on the whole thing:
Was always going to happen, given Zeke's personality and what not, nevertheless i'm absolutely gutted. Given Nick, Pete and Zane are continuing on with whatever and knowing what Zeke's like, is that the three guys have just had enough of him or Zeke's pissed one to many people off and they've just told him to fuck off. Given they've cited political differences, again smells of Zeke getting too out there with all of his views, which were, in the last few months getting pretty extreme. You could see at gigs and the like everything getting a little tense etc. Such as him being quoted recently "Australia is the most racist country in the world" (Which i wont necessarily argue with) but other stuff he's been doing like hanging shit on the Australian flag at Sounds of Spring a few weeks ago. Last weekend at Swarm he spent two minutes actually yelling at the crowd about how the spring racing carnival is the devil that tells girls what to wear and no one tells girls what to wear in "HIS town". The last couple of months, while still a ridiculously fun band to see live, it just turned into a vessel for Zeke to rant about some really trivial things.
My gut feel is the other guys had just had enough of his shit and told him to fuck off.
Not surprising really given what happened with Full Scale, even though i kinda knew this was coming, i feel like I've been kicked in the nuts repeatedly for the last 3 hours. They were getting pretty damn big the the UK as well, it's such a fucking waste of talent. Also given they've cancelled all shows must mean it was something pretty big, even Full Scale played a farewell show when a few of the guys hated each other.
On the other projects:
Heres The Ox and the Fury's myspace: www.myspace.com/theoxandthefury
It's basically just chilled out Alt/Country Rock. Interesting to note that Lucius from Cog is the drummer.
And Zeke's other new project with Forrester called Smash Nova I can see being an outlet for all Zeke's hip hop/funk stuff given Forrester is primarily a producer. It's actually interesting that he's gone back to working with Forrester, he was in Full Scale with Zeke back when they first started. Kinda suggests that he's the only one who can actually put up with Zeke for a decent amount of time.
The three other guys i can see continuing on with bits of what Mammal had, mainly the classic rock and funk influences and less of the rap etc which was more Zeke's thing.
So what now, i'm absolutly shattered and i have a Biology exam tomorrow to study for. Fucking excellent weekend.
Congrats if you made it through all of that /rant
|
| |
Damn mate, unlucky, best of luck with the exam though.
Hmm, that was actually where I was heading too, but it just won't be the same without them together.
David, i have heard Winter In Suburbia, I was just unsure with the whole "rock" thing that they slapped onto it, something makes me doubt its going to be like WIS.
|
| |
Michael, head over to the fury's myspace they've got a song up there which is pretty much their sound.
|
| |
Will do Billy
|
| |
Ah this sucks.
Was looking forward to seeing them again after exams finished.
|
| |
"it's such a fucking waste of talent"
Couldn't of said it better myself. I don't even know the band and I'm sorta upset/annoyed. So many people loved these guys, and they were getting an extreme following. The few songs i've heard on JJJ have been awesome as well.
|
| |
this is a turn up for the books. seems like ox was perhaps too much of a control freak.
bummer.
|
| |
Wow, as if this day couldn't get any worse. Word on the street is Cog are almost finished as well...
Don't quote me, just what i'm hearing.
|
| |
You've got to be kidding me, it'd be bloody terrible if Cog broke up as well.
|
| |
Don't you dare!
|
| |
im guessing this is bad news but...sorry guys, i never took them seriously.
I saw them with sunk loto and cog a while back and didnt dig it at all....mind you im not a cog fan either... > <
|
| |
Which means you're a Sunk Loto fan....?!?!?!?!?
|
| |
look, we all have a patchy past that we should be ashamed of.
sunk loto were quite fun, they were actually one of the first bands i ever saw live, when i was in year 7 something
|
| |
I've got Sunk Loto's debut around here somewhere. Not a bad album.
|
| |
i know hey, i quite liked the second album too, some very interesting riffs there.
|
| |
Hopefully they'll move on to bigger and better things.
|
| |
This is real shame...I just got into them about a year ago and I've loved em ever since. They probably had their best material ahead of them too. Uggggh, such a shame...
|
| |
lol Who?
|
| |
Noooo, Mammal, :C
|
| |
yea who
|
| |
I have a story about a Sunk Lotto gig, Wonoona-Bulli RSL and a girl, but it's not for the internet. lol
|
| |
did you get rejected and burnt pretty badly?
|
| |
i dare say he got the leg over ;-)
|
| |
nothing like a bit of daily exercise hey?
|
| |
Still feels like i've been kicked in the guts repeatedly for the last 24 hours.
Also, now know for a fact that its basically Zeke's fault that Mammal is no more.
|
| |
Ah well dude, look at it this way, from the remains of kyuss came Queens Of The Stone Age. There is always the chance that they could go on to make bigger and better things.
Although if say, The Living End called it quits, I would not be a happy chappy.
|
| |
Also, now know for a fact that its basically Zeke's fault that Mammal is no more.
MY BAD
|
| |
Shame on you Zeke, why did you have to let us down?
|
| |
I NEVER GOT TO SEE THEM LIVE! NOOOOOO!!!!!
|
| |
Damn, I missed them as well, I've always had them as a "before I die I must do this" kind of thing, though not as serious as that.
|
| |
Does that mean their last gig was halloween?
|
| |
I was lucky enough to see them a few times. No, they broke up before the halloween gig, North. MM9 replaced them as headliners for that. Their last gig was SWARM festival at the Espy here in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago.
Heres a recording of it if you're interested: http://fanmaderecordings.blogspot.com
|
| |
Mammal who?
|
| |
no, just mammal.
|
| |
Wait, why are they commenting on a band they've never heard of? That seems kind of stupid to me.
|
| |
crazy!!!!!! these guys were actually pretty good!
|
| |
Just to make things more interesting:
Good Afternoon,
Well it's been a huge shock to everyone watching Mammal fizzle out into nothing. No one was more upset than me that the other members cancelled our final Aussie shows. It was a shitty way to end a great band, threats of lawsuits, no communication and our fans left wondering: why? Such a punk rock cliche from a band that was anything but.
But at times like these is is important to remember what has been there for you all along, and for me that has been the Fury.
Moving into it's 7th year, with one extremely rare (soon to be re-pressed) album under our belts, and another album "Guitars Die In Hot Cars" recorded and being released in April next year, The Ox and the Fury will now have a chance to take centre stage.
I invite all of you to come to the Northcote Social Club on Saturday the 28th of November, to see me alone on stage with my guitar and my songs. My good friends the Tim McMillan band will be there, and I will be playing from the heart and soul, I hope to see you all there.
Check out the film clip for "We'll Never Know" @:

All the best
Ezekiel

| |
first paragraph sounds bitter as hell
nice name change mang.
|
| |
thanks man.
Yeah, he doesn't sound like a happy chappy, does he. Wait for Smash Nova, i think we'll see a very angry Zeke in that band. Sounds like he's re-releasing Winter In Suburbia too, which is awesome.
|
| |
Oh man, he's really using his awesome last name isn't he. xD
|
| |
How shite, I never got to see them live. What adds to it is that half of my music was corrupted last
night, this just gets worse.
Edit: Actually, while I think about it, could somebody help me out here? Tracks 1 - 3 of Vol 1 Aural
Undergrn and the Hollywood Shrine b-side from Slaves? I'd be very grateful.
|
| |
i never realised one of them was called ezekiel....
now i understand why its all my fault.
haa
|
| |
Oh lol you actually thought i was blaming you the other day? Ahaha
|
| |
haha pretty much, then i read your post and was like
whaaaa?
|
| |
So I just read that these guys did a gig in melbourne or brisbane or something. Did they not break up? what's the story?
|
| |
No idea, they set an official email, so that's legit. They might have gotten back and not told anyone.
Fuck them if they did.
|
| |
