Switchfoot Release New Album

2006-06-26 by Stormy Smiley Face | 5 Comments
Switchfoot have been in somewhat in a rut lately. Sony BMG recalled their 2005 release, "Nothing Is Sound", because it was one of 15 titles that behaved like spyware. This had a hand in the album selling only 526,000 copies and while that is a nice amount it doesn't compare to the figures of "A Beautiful Letdown" (2.6 million copies in the U.S. alone).

Frontman Joe Foreman says that Columbia wanted to re-release "Nothing Is Sound" to help boost the figures, but he says he would rather just release a new album. Even though it was just a year ago Switchfoot will release a new album November 7 (roughly) this year.

Here's what Foreman had to say:

"As a songwriter, you have a belief in all your kids, and I'm really excited about these new tracks. Obviously that's where my heart's at right now," he says. "But at the same time, I look back at those songs and they are kind of tainted by a few of the things that went down last year. But at the end of it all you have to just look at what you've got, and we're really thankful that we're making music."

Two of my friends are musicians. One is a bassist, the other a guitarist. It was pretty funny one day when the guitarist was working so hard to learn that song "Stars" and then the bassist comes in to practice late and has it down in no time.
