Jeezy Releases Gucci Mane Diss 2009-06-17 by illmitch | 33 Comments |
Young Jeezy has recently issued a new track, "24 23", which makes explicit references to both Gucci Mane and OJ da Juiceman. While Jeezy and Gucci have had an ongoing beef, OJ and Jeezy haven't; the insults to OJ are most likely due to the close artistic relationship between OJ and Gucci.
The Gucci-Jeezy beef arose after the release of their 2005 collaboration "So Icy", to which both rappers claimed ownership. Gucci ended up with the rights to release it on his album, and soon began wearing chains saying "So Icey" and "So Icey Entertainment" [sic]. In response to this, Young Jeezy issued a sort of bounty for somebody to steal one of these chains. When somebody attempted this, Gucci allegedly shot and killed him in self-defense.
This track has rekindled the beef. Young Jeezy explicitly calls out Gucci and OJ:
"They say the club is off the chain / I'm on my Louis shit today, fuck some Gucci Mane / These niggas still on my dick, they like some groupies, mane.
"They said the club is off the chain, straight shot to the head / Fuck some Juice mane / Ask the real niggas in the city, who got the juice man"
Gucci responded in a radio interview with Miss Info that he had no plans on releasing a new diss track on Jeezy, and that OJ shared this feeling:
"I like attention," Gucci Mane explained to Miss Info. "I must be doing something right if I got people doing songs about me...I called [OJ] last night...He asked me what I thought about, and I told him I thought it was alright, and he thought it was okay too...Not even that it's okay, I just got so many other big things going on right now...I don't think [I'll respond]. I'll just give him hell by goin' hard.”

guys did he just rhyme mane with mane
|
| |
well, he rhymed "gucci mane" with "groupies, mane", the ch can rhyme with the p since they're both voiceless consonants (your voicebox doesnt vibrate when you say them, as opposed to j or b)
|
| |
ive gathered that conclusion from spending like hours looking at lyrics and noticing it
|
| |
Shitty artists dissing each other? Take this shit down.
|
| |
gucci mane is probably one of my favorite rappers
edit: at least right now, his stuff is more interesting than most of whats on the market IMO
|
| |
Gucci bandana, gucci gucci bandana
|
| |
Gucci is so much better than Jeezy.
|
| |
Isn't Gucci Mane the man who collaborated with Soulja Boy?Shame on the bastard.Jeezy however has made some shit that is worth listening but the beef between the two is really pointless but still nice to see two southerners insult each other.
|
| |
Soulja Boy is becoming a quality artist.
|
| |
Actually no
|
| |
I thought Jeezy was Lil Wayne
...Weezy?
|
| |
You're right he was always a quality artist.
|
| |
Couple of douches anyway.
|
| |
jeezy sucks. gucci mane is about a billion times better.
|
| |
i like jeezy but hes on his way to becoming irrelevant
|
| |
If you aren't Jay-Z and you're a mainstream rapper you're gonna become irrelevant one way or another.
|
| |
im not so sure about jay-z, i think "death of autotune" was boring as hell. because of his clout theres no way he'll ever become completely irrelevant, but still
|
| |
I wouldn't equate quality to relevance; I fucking hate Plato.
|
| |
i don't get the appeal of gucci mane and oj. they are both terrible at rapping. they both rap in such a lazy and boring way that i'm surprised that their fans actually get hyped from them. it's retarded to say gucci is better than jeezy. that's like saying the jonas brothers are better than the beatles.
|
| |
Fuck them, no creativity.

@ mungoloid... you obviously don't know what you're talking about. Jeezy is like the Beatles what lol
|
| |
yeah...im a fairly big jeezy fan and i dont think he comes even close to approximating the status of the beatles
|
| |
Gucci and Juice are so bad hahaha
|
| |
im not gonna defend juice - not familiar with him as much - but gucci is talented. read either of the articles i posted.
|
| |
yeah gucci mane is pretty awesome... haters are just basing their opinion off image.
|
| |
**** some gucci mane
|
| |
i didn't say jeezy is like the beatles. i'm just saying that when you compare young jeezy to gucci mane, it seems pretty clear of who is the better rapper. gucci mane is boring, lame, and has this lazy presense to him. he even copies young jeezy by overusing ad libs that make his song more annoying than good. as a matter of fact, gucci mane and oj sound like they put more of an emphasis on their dumb ad libs than their actual rhymes.
|
| |
I got that snow man
|
| |
how is that even clear? it's pretty widely accepted amongst hiphop aficionados that gucci mane is solid and largely benefits from awesome production. imo jeezy's style is lame and his production mostly sucks.
|
| |
Did you even bother to read either of the articles I posted?
I'm guessing you didn't, and decided to insult the lesser-known rapper.
Gold star for you. Excellent response.

i was fairly drunk when i wrote that sorry if i seemed antagonistic i'm a nice guy i promise
