2009 Polaris Prize Long List 2009-06-16 by thebhoy | 12 Comments | Canada's version of the Mercury Prize has rolled out its nominees for 2009. The $25,000 Polaris Prize is chosen by a panel of critics, journalists and bloggers alike. The impressively long list features artists ranging from the popular (Metric) to the obscure (Charles Spearin).

I'm rooting for Charles Spearin's The Happiness Project or Japandroids Post-Nothing. Nominees are good though. I like Polaris Prize, it reminds me that people in Canada do realize we make good music *cough* Junos *cough*

I think Fucked Up is fucking boring. Metric is great though, Hecker is incredible, Japandroids are pretty good.

I seriously think it will be Japandroids. Leonard Cohen already gets tons of critical attention so I don't think they'll go for him and Metric's new album hasn't been as well received as their others.
