Audioslave: New album details

2006-06-19 by Alex101 | 19 Comments
Epic Records has announced a September 5 release date for Revelations, the highly anticipated new album from multi-platinum rock band Audioslave.

In a recent interview with RollingStone.com, guitarist Tom Morello described the record as "Led Zeppelin meets Earth, Wind and Fire," adding that it's a big hard rock record with a funky bottom." Among the album's many highlights is the groove-driven lead single "Original Fire", and "Wide Awake", about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. "It's probably Audioslave's most political song to date," says Morello.

The Grammy-nominated quartet (vocalist Chris Cornell, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk) recorded Revelations at Henson Studios in Los Angeles with acclaimed producer Brendan O'Brien. O'Brien, whose myriad credits include Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen, mixed Audioslave's Out of Exile record and the Live in Cuba CD and DVD. His history with the band goes back even farther, as he produced Rage Agianst the Machine albums Evil Empire (1996), The Battle of Los Angeles (1999) and Renegades (2000) and mixed Soundgarden's Superunknown (1994).

Revelations follows 2005's Out of Exile, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top 200 and featured the Grammy-nominated single "Doesn't Remind Me".

Here is the confirmed track listing:
1. Revelations
2. One and the Same
3. Sound of a Gun
4. Until We Fall
5. Original Fire
6. Broken City
7. Somedays
8. Shape of Things to Come
9. Jewel of the Summertime
10. Wide Awake
11. Nothing Left to Say But Goodbye
12. Moth

I've got a bizarre feeling that it will sound like everything else they've done...maybe it's just me, though.

I can't decide whether I want change or not. I love their sound right now, but a change would be good, too...

Just as long as it's a GOOD change.

I loved their self-title, I hated Out of Exile. I'll have to give this a chance.

Out of Exile was pretty decent, in the sense that what was good was REAL GOOD, and what was lacking was fairly lacking. Can't wait for this, huge fan of all three (Audioslave, RATM and Soundgarden).

I doubt this will be very good, Audioslave are so stuck in a rut. I'll check it out, but I don't plan on paying any money for it, unless I'm pleasantly suprised.

I'm not excited about this at all. My parents like Audioslave a lot so I know they'll get it. That way I can review it without paying for it.

I was just saying Audioslave did better live than FOB did in the studio. My two cents.
