Was it necessary to say that Slipknot is "Grammy-nominated"?
|
| |
C&C and Slipknot are a completely odd pairing so no wonder there's been backlash. Might be interesting to see this. Or not.
|
| |
C&C, Slipknot, and TRIVIUM?
HAHAHAHAHA
|
| |
shows in stadiums suck. no way im gonna shell out 50 bucks to see this from a mile away... or wait, 100 for floor tickets...
|
| |
would be kinda funny to see
|
| |
C&C, Slipknot, and Nickelback.
ROCK ON
|
| |
I am a new user wats up yall
This backlash was from coheed fans more than "Maggots" which is odd but if they were coming to the STL i would be buy all the tickets if i had to. Odd pairing yes but A great band such as Coheed needs to be heard by as many people as possible and while i am not a huge fan of Slipknot i do respect them as muscians and i like a couple of songs so yeah
|
| |
Am I the only one who finds this tour intriguing?
|
| |
im not big on either bands but i think its an awesome pairing
|
| |
why are they complaining about slipknot when trivium is on the bill
|
| |
Yeah lol i hate trivium
|
| |
False metal fans versus false prog fans...who will win?!?!?!
"why are they complaining about slipknot when trivium is on the bill"
because a 5 year old could play slipknot's music.
|
| |
Trivium > Slipknot...except The Crusade.
|
| |
Tickets are really cheap for Indianapolis. I should buy a ticket and leave after Coheed plays.
|
| |
slipknot is really good live... just a fun show to see. i dont think they're good or anything, but it's a good time if you're on tha drank.
trivium sucks live.
coheed is solid live.
|
| |
I would rather see Slipknot and cut off my ears to avoiding seeing Trivium live again. Music that 5 year olds can play...k, we get it, Slipknot's hayday is over...they're still much farther than you (or the rest of their critics) are, and I'm sure they're not gonna lose too much sleep over comments like that.
Despite the fact that neither of these bands does it for me, good job at stepping outside the box for a contrasting style. One trick pony shows with a legion of generic metal bands suck massive balls.
|
| |
I can imagine a lot of maggots being really annoying little bitches at this show when coheed is playing.
|

who are you even talking to
|
| |
Not that Slipknot are super heavy or even good, but maybe some of their heaviness will rub off on Coheed and they'll stop having one good song per album and a 11 or 12 other poppy pieces of shit.
Prog my ass.
I don't see how a band responsible for the greatness that is "Welcome Home" could make some of those other craptastic songs.
|
| |
they make them to spite you
|
| |
because a 5 year old could play their music. I was talking about slipknot, not trivium, but I'll humor you, I know guitarists who teach for a living who struggle playing some slipknot stuff, it's more complicated than you assumeThis Message Edited On 12.12.08

5 year old? learn the guitar parts and play as they do live, you think sounds like one note but can hear the variances, the tab is beastly and they are quite proficient guitarists, however joey jordinson is just fast nothing special
UK got machine head and children of bodom much better than coheed, not a fan and their live show it is pretty terrible when he plays a solo for 15 mins of a 45 min set...
|
| |
so there next album will have influences from slipknot?
|

Prog my ***.

Lemme guess, you heard Welcome Home in Rock Band, listened to more stuff, and said "hey this isn't Welcome Home I want my money back"

Lemme guess, you heard Welcome Home in Rock Band, listened to more stuff, and said "hey this isn't Welcome Home I want my money back" Pwned with a capital p.
|

I might go to this show, "The Suffering" is quite good also (for a single), but I'm afraid that & "Welcome Home" are the only two I know by Coheed, I have Good Apollo...any other recommendations on that album? and what album should I get after that?
|
| |
Get all four albums, they'll be playing more off of every album.
Good Apollo's highlight is The Final Cut, hands down. They improv for 30 mins live usually, but they won't on this tour cause they're supporting. They prolly won't even play it, shame.
SSTB's highlights are Time Consumer, Everything Evil and Junesong Provision.
IKSOSE3's highlights are IKSOSE3, A Favor House Atlantic and the entire Camper Velourium series.
NWFT's highlights are NWFT, Justice In Murder and imo The Running Free, albeit a cheesy single.
|
| |
While I don't think Coheed should have to defend themselves if they choose to tour with whoever they want (aside from a few extremes i.e. Jonas Brothers) I do appreciate the fact they are addressing their fans concerns.
For the most part i agree with the kid above me but i think he needs Three Evils added to his list for IKSOSE3This Message Edited On 12.12.08

The outcome of such blending might be unpleasant, though. Maggots beating up Coheed's fans and shit.
shows in stadiums suck. no way im gonna shell out 50 bucks to see this from a mile away... or wait, 100 for floor tickets...
The most expensive floor seats are 40.
|
| |
Not a fan of Slipknot, but CC is very good, and Trivium has some good songs
|
| |
Claudio and his fucking obama gayness. I wish he would leave politics out of his god damn shit.
Fuck Politics in music.
|
| |
The most expensive floor seats are 40. in MN? they're sold out first off, so i couldn't catch the prices beforehand, but they're averaging 100$ on craigslist. i just can't stand arena shows... i mean, id go to this show for like 25$ gen admit, but i dont like the bands enough otherwise.
|
| |
All 3 bands are so utterly rubbish it's funny.
|
| |
trivium kinda sucks, but the others are solid for sure. it's not like you should cream over them or anything, but saying they all suck is just ignorant.
|
| |
Not a bad tour, but i probably wouldn't bother with it...
Some of the best gigs have variety such as this though!
|
| |
Lemme guess, you heard Welcome Home in Rock Band, listened to more stuff, and said "hey this isn't Welcome Home I want my money back"
mmmmmmmm no. I tried to get into Coheed a long time ago and bought one of their cds. After listening to it I realized they are just a glorified pop band with almost no progressive influences.
Then a couple years ago I saw the Welcome Home video on Comcast OnDemand and it was amazing. So I downloaded the CD with Welcome Home on it and it was complete garbage.
So in conclusion, go fuck yourself.
|
| |
calm down dude, it's the internet.
|
| |
hey i happen to think this will be interesting. both bands are trying to win new ones, and i see no harm in that. besides, this isnt the first unusual pairing of bands to go on tour. look at sabbath and bob seger in the 70s, or van halen and damien (i think?) marley this past year.
|
| |
"And in other news, Kanye West pairs up with Opeth in their tour in 2009..."
"We felt it would give our listeners a grasp of other music, something that might pique the interests of others."
|
| |
that would be an amazing tour.
|
| |
coheed have a point. And it angers me to see people caring its an odd tour line up. Who cares it bores the hell outa me when u have to listen to 3 metal bands in a row.
id love to see this line up. I got children, machine head here n it was pretty awsome bar children sounding completly washed out compared to machine head and slipknot. Coheed would of livened things right up.
|
| |
"Lemme guess, you heard Welcome Home in Rock Band, listened to more stuff, and said "hey this isn't Welcome Home I want my money back"
Who cares where the hell he heard it? Does the song sound different depending on where he heard it? No...so shut up.
|
| |
I'd just go to see Coheed and leave after that
|
| |
AP07373 why are you so angry all the time?
Apollo...any other recommendations on that album? and what album should I get after that? If you can stand the singing, Second Stage Turbine Blade
|
| |
having seen all these bans live all i can say is any show can be fun if you're in the right mindset..if you go to shows looking to evaluate the performance only then i think you are missing the point...live shows are about good times tailgaiting or pre-game at the bar down the street then mixing it up with some guys in the pit and having a laugh with your friends..i think if you go to have a good time you will, worrying too much about who's on the bill is pointless
|
| |
Some of my friends want to go to this, but I hate all three bands so I'm definitely out.
|
| |
I never saw what was so special about Coheed.
|
| |
They may be an odd pair musically but both are awesome to watch live.
|
| |
This show is very puzzling to me. I like Coheed very much and to an extent Slipknot (but I hate Trivium), but it just seems to me that Coheed has an identity crisis when it comes to playing shows. 2 years ago they played with Avenged Sevenfold (yet another terrible band) and it was just absolutely pointless. I can't tell you how many Sevenfold fans walked out after their set before Coheed came out, and you know I expect the same reaction from Coheed fans after they play. They'll walk out. That's where and why you question this tour.
