Fuck, Reznor's finally running out of ideas. It's a good song but is so freaking With Teeth-y it's ridiculous.
|
| |
That was one of my favorite albums fool!
Where can you listen to it?
|
| |
YouTube and there's a link somewhere.
|
| |
ahh thanks found it. Its a solid track.
|
| |
ehhhh it's too With Teeth-y for me.
|
| |
That was uncharacteristically quick
|
| |
this must be too With Teeth-y
|
| |
What, I'm disappointed.
|
| |
If this song was anymore With Teeth-y, I might just call it the worst industrial song of all time.
|
| |
Quite a boring song
|
| |
Well I don't think it's boring, just not kick-ass like most NIN singles.
|
| |
The bridge is good, but the rest is hookless.
|
| |
What the shit? I know what Trent is trying to do in being a part of this "new age music" distribution thing, but he needs to slow down because the music is SERIOUSLY suffering from his unnaturally quick production pace. It's seriously just ridiculous at this point.
|
| |
Well, one single is not appropriate for calling the flag. I'd most certainly wait a few weeks for stuff than 6 years. That should be illegal. Ghosts was great, so was YZ.
|
| |
A) it does NOT sound with teeth-ish, im a rabid NIN fanboy, and i HATE with teeth. it sounds very much like it is from year zero.
B)many on ETS speculate its part of year zero pt. 2, as year zero pt.1 ended on a cliffhanger. though thats just speculation at this point.
C)throwing in the towel based on one song is rather silly, wait until the whole album is likely out in 2 weeks.
|
| |
A.) How the fuck do you think it sounds like Year Zero?!?!?! It's an exact replica of With Teeth; from the pounding bass to the leading drums to the freaking piano.
B.) As much as I want to believe it's part of Year Zero Pt. 2, it's definitely not. The album ended on such a dark, solemn note, a light, fluffy (nearly happy) NIN track does not contribute to the storyline. The lyrics have no substance to the story whatsoever other than possibly a man on parepin trying to kick the addiction.
C.) People are dumbasses for calling this song shit and saying Trent needs to go back on the drugs and have 6 year breaks in between releases.
But what I do like is the fact that he's actually singing now, NIN is getting back to their fun, dance/industrial rock of PHM, and the instrumentation is practically perfect. The inclusion of the piano is perhaps the best addition to any NIN song in a while.

i just laugh at all the people saying trent should quit based on one song, especially since ghosts was phenomenal.
it does have some bits like with teeth, but not outright like it, it has a year zero feel do it as well.
the new album on may 5th should be good.
and for those of you saying trent has come out with too much material, did it ever occur to you that hes been making ghosts and the new album all at the same time and just chose to release them separately?

tribe with the rabid fanboyism
|
| |
im sure tribe has completely convinced everyone that NIN is the greatest band ever and trent reznor is god
|
| |
Did you miss how unbelievably With Teeth-y it is??!?!? How can it be good?????
|
| |
Trent Reznor is god and NIN is his bible.
|
| |
I'd say the way Trent sings it and the lyrics resemble Year Zero much more than With Teeth.
Sure, it's poppy and catchy, but I've always tried to figure out why that's always a bad thing. OH NO! DISCERNIBLE SONG STRUCTURE! Come off it, it's a good song. And mastered just yesterday, too.
I'm starting to believe Trent has a sleeping bag in the studio. Does the guy even eat? I mean, damn, I'd want a break after a while. The guy's a workhorse these days.
|
| |
I wish he'd expand his writing again.
|
| |
I'm tired of NIN.
|
| |
for a proper version not on youtube www.nin.com allows you to download new track for free!
btw new track is ace, and trent in my eyes is yet to produce a "bad album." he only makes albums not as good as some of his other brilliant work...bring on the album and uk tour dates!
|
| |
This song flat out sucks.
His peak writing occured with "The Perfect Drug"
Everything after that is alright, but lacks some serious energy and songwriting.
|
| |
everything after The Downward Spiral has either been okay or bad.
|
| |
[A) it does NOT sound with teeth-ish, im a rabid NIN fanboy, and i HATE with teeth. it sounds very much like it is from year zero.
So it sounds too Year Zero-y?
|
| |
It's alright...I'm still pumped for the new album. The artwork for the single means this is probably Year Zero Pt. 2.
I love the band, just iffy on this new song.
|
| |
downward spiral followed closely by the broken EP and then the fragile. thats it as far as genius goes. however, the rest of his stuff is totally chill, but nothing compared to those masterpi. yea, thats f'uckin masterpiece pluralized, what of it?
|
| |
That song was bad, really bad. Ghosts was far and above his best work in the last 9 years since The Fragile and now I see another With Teeth and Year Zero epic failure (well, With Teeth was not bad in some spots).
|
| |
With Teethy? That's somewhat vague, With Teeth had plenty of strongpoints. People say it sounds like Only, people say Only sounds like it's from the lauded Pretty Hate Machine, but Discipline is With Teethy?
As for my opinion on the track, I think it's alright, not bad, I've only listened to it three times though.
|
| |
Year Zero WASN'T a failure.
|
| |
Trent needs to get back on drugs.
As much as my straight edge disapproves of this, it is totally spot on.
Song sucks.
|
| |
Agree it sounds With Teethy which was a good album, but nothing like 'The Downward Spiral' which was a masterpiece. Hoping the next album NiN bring out has the intense layering of the past.
Discipline probably needed to be written at this stage of Reznors career considering the amount of work ethic he has been putting in recently. The song merely means he is trying to keep discipline and do what he does. We don't have to like it, but we can see why he wrote it.
