This isn't music news.
I don't mean because it's an assault case, it's because he's Vanilla Ice....

|

|

anyone hear the story of him being suspended upside down from a top floor balcony and being forced to sign over the rights to "ice ice baby"? if that's true, then this guy fails at life...
|
| |

|
| |
Winkle XD
Am I the only immature person to find that funny?
|

Wiki- It was widely reported that Van Winkle had been threatened and assaulted by Death Row Records CEO Marion "Suge" Knight, who had demanded that royalties for "Ice Ice Baby" be paid to Mario "Chocolate" Johnson, a Dallas rapper and former associate of Knight who claimed that he had co-written the single. Van Winkle later stated that Knight "took me to the balcony and talked to me... but it's funny how the story gets turned around... I'm wondering how that story got changed around.

He should change his rapper name to V-ICE
Or V-Wink. Or Vanilla Ice Tell 'Em.
|
| |

there was also the time he was exposed by a bunch of students for lying about his middle class past to pretend he grew up in the ghetto, the time he attempted to reinvent his increasingly corny, camp and unpopular style to that of a dreadlocked, tattooed hardcore rapper, the time he sampled Queen & David Bowies "Under Pressure" without clearing any legalities then when pressed with a lawsuit regarding it claimed it was pure coincidence they sounded the same, the time he attempted to re-invent himself as nu-metal, then the time he released an album called Hot Sex with an album cover that looks suspiciously in the style of Fred Durst - http://img1.nnm.ru/imagez/gallery/doci/the/the_discographies-1165653861_i_7611_full.jpg

|

Vanilla Ice, K-Fed, and Soulja Boy Tell Em' should have a song together, it would be terrible.
|
| |
He wishes he was mocked by every person in the world?
|
| |
ice ice baby is only the most catchy song ever. but that post above makes for the epic lulz.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.
|
| |
AHAHAHAHAHA that was pretty funny.
|
Rob has more talent than Soulja Boy. At least Vanilla Ice's songs have lyrics. Soulja Boy repeatedly shouts the word "YOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUU!" over and over again. With shitty beats in the background.
He never changed his name. He didn't even know that the record label had credited him that way until someone pointed it out in an interview.
He never lied about his past. The book that made these claims was written by his manager. He had no part in it.
And he is clearly trailer-trash, not middle class.
He didn't lie about sampling the track. He said in an interview that they sampled the track, but that they added an extra note.
He's still doing nu-metal, and hip hop as well. This kind of stuff is what he wanted to do all along.
Vanilla Ice's music is a lot different from what he was forced by his record label to do in the early '90s. Check out Bi-Polar. Great stuff, half rock, half rap.
He DID pave the way for Eminem. No white rapper was as successful up until Ice and Eminem. Actually, Ice is a better rapper than Eminem.
For all of you dissing Ice, have you made records with Public Enemy, Wu-Tang Clan, Slipknot, Korn, and Insane Clown Posse?
Thankyou for clarifying the Great American Myth.

No white rapper was as successful up until Ice and Eminem?
Are you forgetting or simply ignoring the fact that Beastie Boys' Licensed To Ill, from 1986, went 9x platinum.
That came out 4 years before "Ice Ice Baby" was released, and Vanilla Ice never sold that many copies on one album.
|
| |
OK, solo white rappers. Vanilla Ice and Eminem are, no doubt, the most well known, but a lot of people know that Mark Whalberg went under the name, Marky Mark, and was a white rapper in the early 90s. Also, Everlast, after being in House of Pain, went solo and has gone 2x platinum, and he has been on a Santana album which went 15x platinum, so I'm sure many people have at least heard of him. This Message Edited On 04.26.08
