Shepherds Reign unveil Toa 2026-01-22 by arthropod | 4 Comments | The Polynesian band Shepherds Reign released a new single titled "TOA". Hailing from South Auckland, New Zealand, they are notable for blending metal music with a strong influence from the Samoan culture. The song, released in advance of the band's planned appearance on Shiprocked, is Shepherds' first new material since their breakthrough 2023 album Ala Mai.
"A song of power. The warrior spirit inherited from generation to generation. ‘TOA’ is the strength, courage and resilience of our people to stand on our values and fight for our family love and legacy. A dedication to our singer’s father who lived and died a warrior. A TOA. Auapaau, your legacy will live on. ‘TOA’ isn’t just one who fights battles, but one who protects our bloodlines and aiga. Honours their ancestors and sacrifices what they must for survival."
