It's just one of those days...

R.I.P. Sam! Way too young
|
| |
So unexpected, Sam and Dirk Lance are probably the two bassists that sparked my interest in playing Warwicks. 2025 has not been kind to the music world lately. Rest in Peace
|
| |
The statement they released was perfect.
RIP
|
| |
Touching farewell statement for sure. RIP Sam, way too young.
|
| |
this one cut deep
|
| |
so grateful i got to see them this year
|
| |
You could never fault the instrumentation of Bizkit. Big rip
|
| |
rip
|
| |
terrible news, he was an underrated bassist. RIP.
|
| |
Talented bassist
RIP
|
| |
Gone too soon, RIP.
|
| |
RIP
Yo that rearranged bassline was dope af
|
| |
RIP, such an integral part of their sound and appeal. Dude was locked in on every single LB album.
|
| |
RIP
He was a great bassist
|
| |
This one hits hard. Say what you want about Limp Bizkit but Sam Rivers was one of the main reasons I wanted to pick up a bass guitar in the first place. Dude laid down some great licks. RIP
|
| |
This sucks. He was massively underrated. RIP
|
| |
RIP so hard.
|
| |
RIP
Good to see the "cherishing the memories" type of obituary instead of the "we are devastated" type for once.
|
| |
What the hell is going on this year??
RIP
|
| |
Rest in peace.
|
| |
Such an integral part of their sound, thinking especially if Rearranged. RIP.
|
| |
Terrible news, RIP, yet another musician who passed away at his/her late 40s…
|
| |
awful news, I've been jamming limp bizkit a lot lately. I can't believe he's gone...
|
| |
few weeks ago, Ace Frehley, now Sam Rivers.
what a sad month to living in.
Rest in Peace
|
| |
Damn that sucks big time. One of the best bassists ever. RIP
|
| |
"Such an integral part of their sound, thinking especially of Rearranged."
^this!
RIP
|
| |
The Truth has an excellent bass line too.
|
| |
RIP.
John Otto... take him to the Matthews Bridge
|
| |
never listened to this band, but rip, hope he had a wonderful life
|
| |
This one hit hard. He was a hell of a good bassist.
|
| |
FUCK SAKE
|
| |
I hope he recorded enough material for the new LB album before he passed away, so they release that in his honor. Hard rip. Limp Bizkit’s middle section was just as important to the band’a sound the same way Borland guitar was/is.
|
| |
Hard RIP. This fucking sucks.
|
| |
Good lord are all the big band members dropping off, it's kind of surreal
Genuinely the greatest aspect of the band, those bass grooves off of Nookie are fucking immaculate
|
| |
RIP Sam.
Masterclass in his own right when it comes to tone and catchy lines, and also knew how to play in context with the band to elevate everything, without ever just following the leader.
The guitar riff in Hot Dog presents some of the hardest metal known to man, but wouldn't hit half as ahrd without the dizzying bass dropping/rebound he does at certain syncopations during it.
|
| |
RIP
Glad I got to see them last summer, fun show

Video tribute from Fred.

RIP : (
|

"The guitar riff in Hot Dog presents some of the hardest metal known to man"
I know we're grieving here but are you sure about this
RIP
|
| |
I mean what I say. Dynamics in sound are essential for something hitting hard or not. Playing a bunch of chug notes in the lowest tuning imaginable at the highest volume possible, in and of itself, without any greater underlying artistry or comprehension of composition or tone, will always fail to match how hard Hot Dog goes on account of its rhythm section working perfectly with the riffs.
|
| |
Hot Dog riff does go hard tbh
|
| |
Dude was a heck of a bass player. I always dug his playing. RIP Sam.
|
| |
Fuckin sucks. RIP Sam. An absolute great one.
|
| |
t's sad so young still R.I.P. but why don't I see news about ACe Frehley's death anywhere on Sputnik:!!!! you kind of disappointed in this that you didn't even mention him
|
| |
gutted, man. Sam was phenomenal. RIP
|
| |
RIP
|
| |
RIP
|
| |
Hey frozen I respect your opinion but also would like to consider the contributions of artists like Gorguts, Ulcerate, Meshuggah when considering the heaviest riffs that could be in the same echelon as Hot Dog. I know Hot Dog hits harder than Cryptopsy or Decapitated and I'm sorry I questioned Hot Dogs heaviness. All hail Hot Dog
|
| |
RIP legend
|
| |
"Glad I got to see them last summer, fun show"
Same. I couldn't be more glad that I finally got to see them last year after years of waiting for the chance, especially now.
|
| |
Damn, the end of that video from Fred got me. Sam was a hell of a bassist and honestly one of my favorites, despite not being a huge Limp Bizkit guy outside of certain songs.
|
| |
Truly brilliant bassist. This is very sad news.
RIP.
|
| |
Man this sucks. Rest in Peace.
|
| |
Very sad news. Really one of the main drivers of the band sound, Otto and Wes Borland are amazing also obviously. Some very memorable bass lines. Rest easy.
|
| |
They keep falling like flies. What a year this as been.
|
| |
Very true @FrozenFirebug
There is no light without shade, that's what a lot modern metal gets wrong, trying to be as dense, fast, complex or chaotic as possible. One dimensional heaviness flatlines, the drop X noise drones on,drums hammer away as a vocalist gurgles cement. I like it in small doses but I couldnt listen to a whole Ulcerate or Meshuggah album in one go, at least without brain fog and earache. I saw Decapitated live and couldn't make out what on earth was going on, it was like a hurricane.
It's why modern metal is very much underground.
|
| |
Take Em To The Matthews Bridge
|
| |
"Damn, the end of that video from Fred got me."
Yeah, I have to admit that video got me too. This fucking sucks.
I'm tired.
|
| |
I know that Fred and Wes get most of the attention in the band, but Sam really had some solid basslines in their songs.
RIP.
|
| |
I may not be a Limb Bizkit fan, but that still really sucks. 48 is way too young.
