That's cool. Would be cooler if it's good too.

Oh shit I am stoked
|
| |
seeing an ad for this when walking around nyc was absolutely wild today. could barely believe my eyes and ive seen 5 whole songs from it live
|
| |
Geez it's been sixteen years since the last one. I never paid much attention when that came out. I played a song from it some years ago. Seemed fine (the first track) but wasn't in the mood to try and get into the album :/ Just stuck to the ones I knew.
Nice to read an ad campaign is finally rolling out for it. I thought there would have been news about this album years ago.
|
| |
Also the coordinates for Blackpool Tower crop up, given that it’s Robert Smiths birthplace and what with the posters being displayed in the pub in Crawley where they first played a gig taking into account the lyrics of Alone it all points to the band making a final bow.
|
| |
Interesting to see this sort of campaign for their new album. Did they do anything similar before? It always occurred to me that they released new stuff rather quietly, and now they’re asking fans if they could communicate with them via whatsapp. Billboards? Wtf.

PR department.
Soulless

I think they made a big deal about BloodFlowers coming out though not to this level. That originally was supposed to be the last album. Then I guess it was a success and had a good tour so the S/T came out four years later *shrugs* I just barely even knew that album after S/T came out. I think I was just into a different scene of music at the time or just gaming a lot, watching sports more etc.
|
| |
S/T went under my radar as well. Back then I was overly obsessed with drum'n'bass and IDM, didn't care much about anything else. I felt I was living in the future, but now I'm living in the past.

“The Cure are gearing up to release their first new album in 16 years. Or for those born in 1992-93, half your lifetime.”
Man I felt that, in my lower back.

lets gooooooooooo
|
| |
im born in 1992 zaboomafoo
|
| |
Haven’t they been putting out “one last album” since Disintegration?
I will say though it’s completely bat shit insane that I’m 34 and never really experienced a new album cycle from the band.
|
| |
You are 34yrs old and haven’t experienced (although you were born within) a culturally significant musical era mate. I’d say that’s the real stinger.
|
| |
zak went to sleep long before brat summer and still hasn't woken up confirmed
|
| |
Yeah Brat summer right up there with Altamont that was in terms of significance.
Brat summer forgotten about by the time Bellend end winter kicks in.

Well I know Robert Smith was going to give up on music until Distingration hit it big. He said he felt too old to be a music star if it didn't happen by his 30s/in them. Ya'll can fact check me.
I suppose there were always threats of breaking up the band or sabotage. That's why Wild Mood Swings was released. *wink*
|
| |
They were big but yeah he did say he felt too old when he was 25.

He said similar things around the time they recorded Pornography already, some things don’t change. Maybe the new album will really be their last release, but I doubt they’ll stop touring.
I love Hyæna, was not aware Robert disliked the production, to me it is the natural evolution from A Kiss in the Dreamhouse.

new song rules
|
| |
From Chain of Flowers on Twitter: https://x.com/ericlecuriste/status/1839304309290447237
"The songs chosen for the *first* release were finally completed in August..."
Also, there are 3 or 4 different vinyl variants available for pre-order now, and apparently the 'deluxe' CD version comes with instrumental versions of the 8 track Songs of a Lost World.
|
| |
Great song agreed.
|
| |
New song is everything I hoped it would be, also hope they actually end up releasing the second album too
|
| |
Who’s listening in 2024 😭 🤚
|
| |
the drums on the new track sound HUGE, love the overall vibe. Haven't listened to any post 90s Cure, but I'll defo be checking this one out
|
| |
Check Bloodflowers too, pretty similar vibe to this new one just with less focus on synths
|
| |
I do prefer the live version of Alone I must say
|
| |
I gave about half of Bloodflowers a spin today, I don't really get the same vibe as with Alone (so far Alone is better than anything on here), but I do like what I'm hearing. Will do a full listen these days. Is it just me or is Alone like an instant classic as far as Cure songs go? I'm kinda super surprised how much I like it
|
| |
Alone is a good song. Is it the official opener of the album? I like how it builds till 3 minutes plus then we all finally hear Robert Smith.
BloodFlowers is really good. One song is really long and another song is redundant. I consider it really one of thier best still.
