Stradlin Joins GNR On Stage

2006-05-18 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 2 Comments
In one of the worst-kept secrets in the history of last night, ex-Guns N' Roses guitar slinger Izzy Stradlin joined the latest incarnation of the rock group at a show last night in New York's Hammerstein Ballroom.

Rumours began circulating two weeks ago when Stradlin and [singer] Axl Rose were seen eating together in New York, reportedly celebrating the former's belated 44th birthday. When a soundman let slip that they were preparing "Izzy's guitar" in the lead-up to the show, the reports were all but confirmed.

After making reference to the band's original enigmatic guitarist (the latest being rap-metal funk shredder Ron Thal, or "Bumblefoot") numerous times throughout the show, Stradlin' finally joined the band for a performance of 'Think About You,' his own composition from the classic Appetite For Destruction.

It was an emotive performance, the pair embraced as the guitarist walked on stage, and onlookers reported seeing Stradlin's eyes well up as they performed a second of his songs, 'Patience'. He then left the stage but returned for a four-guitar rendition of 'Nightrain,' which also saw everybody's two least favourite rednecks perform a duet, as Kid Rock walked on stage. Ex-Skid Row shouter Sebastian Bach also made an appearance, as he has done on each of the band's four New York appearances, duetting with Axl on 'My Michelle'.

Any rumours that a full reunion is on the cards have, however, been quashed by every single authority on the matter.

The performance of 'Think About You' can be viewed here, while 'Nightrain' can be downloaded from this location.

Horrible quality on that video, not sure why I expected it to be good though.

I haven't listened to "Nightrain" but I'm sure its great. Axl sounded good too.

Kid Rock is just bad.
