I have been an ohio state fan my whole life. My father went to Ohio state and I followed in his footsteps and went there as well. Growing up I was never much of an NFL fan. Growing up in the Chicago area, I was not surrounded by very passionate Bears fan. It was never something I watched. When I went to college though, I lived with many friends from Cleveland who would religiously put the Browns on TV. I joined their fantasy league despite not knowing anything about the NFL and decided I would join them on cheering on the Browns every Sunday. It was a big mistake. The year I became a Browns fan we went 1-15. The next season I was optimistic. "there is nowhere to go but up from here!" I thought... we had a perfect season. Going 0-16. The following season was one of my favorite though. After losing our first few games, tyrod taylor was injured and carted off the field. It was time for the BAKER era. The man showed up and saved the Browns. His charisma revived the team and fan base. He is gone but never forgotten.

Agreed on the intro, it was unexpected and reminded me of Acceptance Speech kinda. The raps are not "GOOD" objectively but I always liked how silly and unserious they are.

@Tellah oh absolutely I don’t disagree, I’ve seen Kurt in a variety of settings (w/ DGD, ALLB, Royal Coda, Solo) and he has improved a lot over the years. Even still, he always wrote around his limitations and never relied too much on auto tune. Plus he seems like a genuinely nice and caring guy.

Tilian, on the other hand, writes way out of his best range and relies on post production to make himself sound better on records and then just sounds laughable in concert. I just remember him absolutely botching the long high note on the hook if We Own The Night and I couldn’t stop myself from cracking up.

He’s essentially the Dragonforce of garbo post hardcore vocalists

Kurt has sounded infinitely better in the past few years, iirc he used to smoke a lot and has since cut back significantly, which has helped immensely.

All 3 of the DGD singers can sing but are super inconsistent live, Kurt was the worst at least for his Era in DGD but while Jonny can belt and has that nice R&B croon he'd get too fuckin fucked up on stage, and Tilian writes higher than he can sing in non-perfect conditions/on a tour and dips flatter than a fucking fuck, although I've heard him sound on point when I've seen them.

Arguing whom the shittier human of a singer is at this point is like a funny joke. It's all pretty fucking disappointing, I got into this band around Instant Grat/Mothership and those 2 albums REALLY scratched an itch for me, at first a lot of the vocals were too kitschy poppy/shitty lyrics but something about it kept me coming back and really got under my skin, they fill a void I think where catchy music is lacking from a lot of what I listen to and their writing instrumentally was spicy enough to keep me coming back and the hooks really got into me.

Now it's a big fucking shitsack of diarrhea. JJ was mid at best and everything else happening put such a sour taste in my mouth I couldn't fuck with it at all.

There's some nice sounds in the single and some catchy moments but I'm not getting the "this is better than the last couple" vibe much at all, sounds like from Afterburner on they've kind of fallen into a more stagnant groove and aren't reaching the heights of Mothership at all.

Yeah it might be my most anticipated of the year, those guys really do something for me. It has a little bit of the weedly weedly upbeat vibes of swancore but a little more prog leaning and they have some legit jazz chops. And less of a "I would enjoy this more if it didn't feel like it was for 19 year olds" vibe than a lot of the DGD/swanc. Coma is probably my SOTY at this point.

I'm very stoked for the new Aviations, Concrete Kitten was on repeat for me for quite awhile. They seem to be the closest thing to a successor to Corelia but they also have their own thing going on.

In terms of DGD, I mostly just skip to my favourite riffs and good Mess parts, but thats still enough for me to keep coming back. Tilian's parts have been mid since Afterburner.

I actually still haven't listened to it. Nostalgia was a really strong debut EP but some of his vocals don't hold up for me as much as I enjoyed them back in the day. Still a strong release though, pretty sad what happened with those boys.

Mid since Afterburner I'd agree for sure. ArSe was a little more structurally basic than IG or Mothership I think but it had some insanely infectious melodies going on and it gave us Evaporate and a good number of bangers. Mess's harsh vocals live are some of the strongest I've heard even if his range is pretty small and I'll always appreciate a lot of his lyrics, they're fare better than Tilian's. on the whole though that whole band is just stanked up for me now. I can still listen to my favorites but there's that tinge of "damn these guys are fuckheads" every time.
