Underoath drummer sidelined

2007-10-03 by roofi | 15 Comments
Underoath has encountered an unexpected problem during their latest headlining tour: having to play without Aaron Gillespie. The band's drummer/backing vocalist underwent emergency surgery to treat an infection in his hand while the band was in Las Vegas. No dates have been canceled -- Underoath enlisted the help of Kenny Bozich from The Almost (Gillespie's side project) to fill in while Gillespie recovers. Lead singer Spencer Chamberlain and guitarist Tim McTague will handle Gillespie's vocal parts in his absence. Gillespie is expected to return to his duties at the band's stop in Portland on October 9th.

Man the fans will be pissed to See Underoath without their clean singer. Kind like how I was when I saw Killswitch without Adam D.

Yeah, I read this earlier myself. Thankfully this isn't taking him for very long but yeah I would be angry to see them without Aaron. And 123 balls, the first time I saw them Adam D. was out. Seeing them again with him was a whole new experience, musically and of course verbally  "Ladies, I've gotta preposition for ya; me, you, porta potty in five minutes, I'm bringin' the Mike's Hard Lemonade!"

I was really lookin forward to Adam D too. Dont know who replaced him, but very bland without the maniacal D.

Thats a bummer. From what I've heard Tim's voice is decent. Spencer's clean voice is too, although he doesn't use it that much.

Tim's clean voice is actually really good live. Spencer's has improved immensely as well but still no Aaron is a huge bummer.

Whatever...Define the Great Line was a 2.5...that's the only album they've made I've enjoyed; but I'm not big on screamo, because old Atreyu was as screamo as I got.

I don't think Atreyu were ever screamo to begin with, but that's just me.

Maybe instead of just their drummer being sidelined, the whole band could be sidelined. :thumb:

Calling Underoath screamo definitely lowers one's credibility.
