Sounds like music for a Cialis commercial with old people dancing and sitting in side by side tubs, staring at the beach.

It’s not the Latin jazz that’s weird. It’s how boring the song is. Literally nothing happens from beginning to end. It’s the same song at 10 seconds as it is at 2:55.

Yea I'm digging this, not understanding the hate here so much. I'm not bothered by the lack of an explosive climax or anything I'm just into the groove. Stoked the Latin vibes are back!

Also hearing new Mars Volta makes me feel like 17 again, when I first discovered more experimental music. Glad to see these guys still around and making new stuff.

As long as it is a part of an album that gives the song better context, this is passable. Cannot stand on its own as a single though lol. Pretty boring.

This is really good. I have no idea what all the bitching is about. Wait and see how it fits into the bigger scope of the album; I'm thinking this is another shorter, hookier track that fits in with something much more developed, but offers a good taste of the album's vibe. Think "The Widow" or "Wax Simulacra."

This is such a disagreeably haughty way to present a new song.
I'm not listening to 11min of crap for a 3min Mars Volta song.
And that prententious slo-motion. euah...

eh reminds me a bit of 'Can' tbh, very jammy. one of my favorite things about mars volta baack in the day was how unexpectedly different each of the albums were when they released, annnd this is ultimately continuing that trend. also interesting to see them incorporate more worldy rhythms after focusing on latin beats for decades. i'm intrigued

I definitely don't mind this, but I can see why people might be a little disappointed. Now if they release a whole album that's this subdued, then I will start to question what's going on. As it stands, I just assume this is somewhat of a filler track and I assume there will be plenty of songs more closely to what one would normally expect from TMV.

Anyways, I cant wait for what they will do on this

part of omar's culture so not sure how it's surprising. but like, did he write the song? like how does a person write music like this? I know that he's actually always written the music. like literally written it out on like graphs and shit.

aside from that though, the band has always been weird and did whatever they wanted to musically, so that isn't surprising either.

is this a video version of the song though? again not seeing how a person ''writes'' a song like his and releases it. it's more like you recorded other folks playing music. idk.

There's a fresh lineup on their wiki page that says Eva Gardner is back on bass and some guy named Willy Quinones on the drums. Nice to see another Quinones doing big things if its true.
