"Jackpot Juicer will be the band's longest album yet, being eighteen tracks and clocking in at over an hour."
I already hate it
| |
sure ya do but it’s the last with the bassist as well
| |
Eighteen tracks? Oof.
Still sucks about Tim, rest in peace, but nothing about this appeals to me so far. The single is fairly boring and even the album art, which is usually great and still being done by Mattias Adolfsson who is one of my favourite illustrators, doesn't really do anything for me this time around. Wells, and his project Eidola, aren't really up my alley either, so I doubt I'll enjoy much of this.
| |
this either has the potential to be amazing or very disappointing. kinda goes hand-in-hand with the gambling aesthetic though
| |
based on what i've heard from the band, they took a different approach for the writing of this record .... hoping that means it's better than afterburner
| |
Love the title and imagery they're using on this one. But I went in to Afterburner with high hopes and ended up somewhat disappointed with the results. I love this band and i'll always be excited for new material but I feel like they've settled in to their comfort zone a bit on the last couple records. Here's hoping they found their mojo again for this one.
| |
if the album is up to the same quality as this single, it's going to be one of their best albums.. been absolutely loving this new song
| |
It'll sound like DGD. Also, an hour? Ooof. Their records should be like 45 minutes long.
| |
Synergy has a good mix of Mothership meets Afterburner in it, I have high hopes for this and want another single soon
| |
Kick out Tillian and bring back Johnny for DBM III
| |
No matter how many times you say it it simply will not happen
| |
bringing jonny back would be terrible not only from a PR standpoint, but the dude has seriously run of melodies to sing. people point to DGD for starting to sound the same but jonny has not come up with an original melody in like a decade
| |
18 tracks has me a bit worried ngl.
Loving the art direction for this one though, the casino theme is genius and fits them so well. Synergy is also amazing so I'm sure this will be way better than Afterburner.
| |
i can already tell i'm gonna be blowing up this thread but
i know we are all kind of concerned about 18 tracks (and rightfully so, for so many reason) but i personally feel like it's going to work out. will, whether with DGD or one of his other six bands, is pretty always writing music, and there's been multiple times at this point where he's released like 30 songs in a year, and the majority has been bangers. This time it's just consolidated all within the DGD camp. I have faith we are going to get 18 bangers.
| |
the pear in the top left corner of the artwork has a fat ass
18 tracks might be a bit much but hard to judge until actually hearing the album and like w/e if thats the case ill j edit my own ideal version of the tracklist anyway lol
| |
I read that there are a bunch of features/ collabs on this one so hopefully that keeps things fresh through that run time
| |
"the pear in the top left corner of the artwork has a fat ass"
Legit had me rolling
| |
tilian confirmed yesterday that rob is the only "feature" though he did also say andrew has a couple lead lines on something like 6 songs
| |
Lmaooo onion
That orange has no right being so caked up
| |
That rest in peace hype
| |
man what
| |
Kind of a shitty thing to say Storm.
| |
I didn't mean it any kind of shitty way. I'm sadly looking forward to hear 18 whole songs of the last thing Tim made.
| |
There's a lot of drama going on behind the scenes of Tims death and this new album and tour is going to help Tims family, not just honor him.
| |
Need a couple songs with only mess on vocals, bring in kurt for a track or two and johhny for a song. Would be sweet album with some features
| |
Unfortunately no features other than the dude from Don Broco
| |
Sackatomatoes gang
| |
This song is the musical equivalant to a five years old running, screaming, shouting, breaking stuff in order to attract attention.
| |
Sounds like you
| |
"This song is the musical equivalant to a five years old running, screaming, shouting, breaking stuff in order to attract attention."
what.
| |
Synergy is an okay track, Jon is firing on all cylinders and is actually getting better with time, but Tilian's voice is starting to deteriorate and it's really noticeable here.
Also "18 tracks" [∞]
| |
Reading this again the next day and I still dont even understand how what i said was shitty but i feel bad nonetheless.
| |
I somehow totally missed the news about Tim, that's awful. As for the song, it's fine, sounds like what I might've expected, but some cool moments and my head was bouncing at multiple points so clearly it did its job just fine.
| |
I understand the sentiment and what you meant but yeah "that rest in peace hype" is a pretty shitty way of saying it lol
| |
Bring back Kurt and Garren for a Deathstar/Happiness 2 and then end the band. It'll never happen but if it did I'd shoot rope
| |
the band's had some dips in quality, but I'm glad they are still around. They pump out enough bangers on each successive release to justify their existence and it's cool to see them become a sort of legacy act for this sound. Most bands in this genre just don't last very long
| |
I like this single, but 18 tracks sounds bloated. Hopefully it’s 18 tracks for a reason, but I have a feeling they’re chucking some old b-side material in to extend the runtime. It’ll be sad to hear Tim’s final work, but hopefully this album lets him shine through. His bass work is overshadowed a lot on Afterburner, hope they mix him higher for his last outing
| |
the videos of their performance at Swanfest are hard to watch. I feel so bad for them. couldn't be worse timing
| |
Still want to hear something as good as downtown battle mountain
| |
MCJACKDAHL Their Man of the Year performance made me tear up I can't lie. these guys can never catch a break.
| |
They must really be going through it. I hope they'll be alright
| |
people are really commenting on them giving a poor performance. how tone deaf can you be?
i feel so bad for them
| |
I don't think that's what he was implying. Hard to watch meaning its hard seeing them perform without Tim.
| |
You can tell how upset Tilian and Mess are in the live vids, breaking down constantly
| |
Holy fuck, can you Johnny/Kurt shippers take a break for like one goddamn day? They did that tour already, and there's plenty of video of it. They've also given Kurt features. Move on, it's over.
| |
Agreed, give that dead horse a rest already.
| |
if people want more kurt-era DGD so bad, support royal coda????
| |
Yea
| |
"I don't think that's what he was implying. Hard to watch meaning its hard seeing them perform without Tim."
sorry, i was referring to yt comments not here. people are legit making comments about how "bad they sound"
| |
Yeah the Bass solo at the end of Count Bassy made me choke up ngl. Sergio held it fucking down in the most respectful possible way.
Hopefully the new Royal Coda has some Will Swan harsh vocals a la Happiness
| |
I'm digging the track a lot. I haven't been listening to these guys much and I feel a resurgence is due
| |
“Hopefully the new Royal Coda has some Will Swan harsh vocals a la Happiness”
is this why DGD fans suck
| |
whats wrong w that statement?
| |
Will's harshes sound like a barking chihuahua now so no thank you lol
| |
oh man lol does he really? fuck that then
edit: christ j saw a vid u werent kidding lmao
| |
i hate how Tilian is used in DGD. its so cornball. he was better with tides of man IMO
kurt travis death star album/happiness have never been topped with any of the 8 fucking LPs they've dropped since adding Tilian (and all their shit sounds like the exact same song except we own the night tbh, i couldn't tell you any of them are memorable).
(hot take) RIP Tim
| |
really bad band
| |
stfu colton
| |
their tilian era stuff is just too cotton candy for me. *sloppy kisses dirty wishes..* (puke)
im more of a *rock solid* kinda guy
THE FIRST THING I SAY IN THE MORNING
IS FUCK. THAT. SHIT
| |
Fuck... that Man of the Year performance was hard to watch. You can just feel Tilian's anguish.
But when Jon starting crying... that's when I lost it.
| |
Yeah that was sad... those guys just lost their friends not two weeks ago and are already on stage... absolute props and I feel for them
| |
link to vid? gotta be awful.... sucks so hard.

| |
Pop Off??
| |
sounds kinda Afterburner, Tilian part feels okay now, but i can tell it's gonna be boring down the line.
Jon's parts however??? sick

| |
"That’s my best fuckin friend" sadface
| |
i like it, i think both of their vocal cadences are very interesting. i am starting to suspect the weak link is will, his riffs don't really leave much room for everyone else to branch out.
that being said, i am not a particular fan of all the effects they are stacking on tilian's voice.
| |
Track rules
| |
summer vibes track
| |
i enjoy pop off, but i have the same complaints ive had with Titian since 2015. he doesn't have lyrics that mean anything. its just weird fluff lines "sloppy kisses dirty wishes" type weird shit.
with kurt travis and jonny at least it felt like they were SAYING something. Titian is just cotton candy and its like.... ok..... shut up you making it way too spritely in this bitch
