New Omnium Gatherum Single

2021-08-27 by Fernando Alves | 9 Comments
Melodic death metallers Omnium Gatherum shared the first single, 'Paragon', from their forthcoming new album Origin, out November 5th, 2021 via Century Media Records. The official video can be seen below.

Video by Owe Lingwall / Dreamday Media

Jukka Pelkonen states; "Basically PARAGON is about overcoming obstacles and hard situations. Anything that comes to the way may be intense and malign, but it will not shatter the diamond of resolve, that is the paragon!"

Markus Vanhala continues; "…that leads us to the near past times of the band. Not only some virus but also weird lineup changes made our last year really difficult. But Finnish perseverance means that hard times and crisis are made to take on as a challenge, overcome them and refine yourself better. So here we are, back on track stronger than ever! That’s why there’s a minimum amount of Finnish melancholy & darkness, but maximum amount of awesomeness & good times in this video. Never surrender!"

Origin tracklist:

1. Emergence
2. Prime
3. Paragon
4. Reckoning
5. Fortitude
6. Friction
7. Tempest
8. Unity
9. Solemn

One of the worst videos I saw in a while and the song is nothing special, not bad, not good, just meh. Maybe the video tainted my experience of the song. It pales in comparison of the new Be'lakor song to be honest, let's hope for better singles and songs in the album.

Song is okay, I guess. I feel bad for anyone in this genre putting something out right now. Be'lakor song too fresh and nothing is gonna come close to it.

this is so middle of the road for them. when 'gods go first' came out from their last record and it was a total riff fest with huge, dynamic songwriting it makes this look really weak.

Super safe single but it’s OG through and through. It’s catchy. I dig it. Sounds like a b-side from their album ‘Beyond’.
